I think the author got one thing right, "games are not movies", but he just continues with this story thing. Hey, how about you leave the story part to me, and just deliver a rich world/setting. Isn't that what games are all about? Exploring alternatives, and not "do it my way, or do it your way, fail, restart level and do it my way". Enough with linearity in games, build a world and let players decide on outcome, or how the story develops. That I think is the strength of this medium.
