Since when did I suggest that I could make a better recording of a power tool than anybody? I was merely comparing, directly, the unpleasantness of a good recording of a power tool with the unpleasantness of having to listen to Britney "singing".
Now you're just waving your e-peen - nah, not even that, your wallet. "I bet I can make a WAYYYY better 'recording' of a power tool than you". Well, duh! Go right ahead, knock yourself out!
Monster cables are only worth the investment for speakers and line-level / mic stuff (i.e. analogue signals). Having a Monster-cabled computer network would be no better than having the generics of the same cables.
We all know this - and MP3 and the so called "average listeners" (people who buy Britney Spears) have ruined the hi-fi industry with their cable sarcasm. Yes, MP3 will sound crap on a Monster cable, too. But 44.1KHz 16-bit sound, converted to analogue in the transport and sent to the amp via line leads WILL benefit from Monster / premium cables, as will speaker cables of any kind.
No it's not, some really ugly, nerdy guy out there has a big cock and nobody is interested in him - he can't just flop it out in public, so that might be a very real problem for him! Or maybe he does, and girls only want him for that?
Back on topic, it's not like that at all because the computer is probably real, and if not, it's just another hypothetical "Ask Slashdot" for us to fantasize over. "What would you do if you had...". What's wrong with that? Just my 2 pence!
I hope to see the day when people who think like that are rounded up and shot. If you are life insurance professional (sic, mocking the OP), I hope the last thing you hear is...
"Die capitalist scum! No longer shall you be the boot on the face of man!"
"The mod who modded you down" seems to have forgotten the myriad methods slashdot uses to undo moderations.
Whether you are logged in or not, using the same browser or not, slashdot (thankfully!) undoes mods from the same IP when a post is made subsequently. Meaning that unless you deliberately abuse Tor or some other anonymizer, your mod has been undone.
So, either, you're not so smug now, or you're admitting to being a Mod Troll; someone who abuses and / or games the Moderation system to push an agenda. I currently have a few of these, and in a fair and just society they'd all be banned for abusing that system...
Wow, sounds like Maplin's here in the UK. And to thing, their catalogue and store stockrooms used to legendary for their efficiency and range - now if you need a particular resistance or coils you gotta wait a week and if you haven't a debit card - forget it!
The TC1100 series is a sturdier business-orientated convertable tablet pc, it was thinner and with pen but no touch. On the upside, this resulted in better screen quality, because the touch panel on the tx series has a fine mesh obscuring the screen.
The only reason I wouldnt want the 2011 model is the lack of graphics card present in the tx series.
As for making one and selling it to you, I would if I could but hp havent contacted me regarding their pc division yet.
I will gratefully assume anybody replying to this has now comprehended my full article (lol).
There's an extra comma in the first sentence, guesses get points. Also, "I remember thinking how economies of scale were going to bring me loads more of this type of machine in the years to come, because I couldn't imagine anybody who likes laptops or tablets not liking these things."
Thanks, and sorry again for tonight's post. I shouldn't really post in this state, but my OP is good, it's just much worsely written than most...
I hereby declare that although I'm too smashed to be posting tonight, I promise that if you persevere, you'll find some good points in my OP. Here are some of the less obvious clarifications-
"show them to people in an Apple-like shop. Show them folded up playing Angry Birds or use Facebook on the Windows 7 on screen keyboard, then unfold it and compile something.
Apple fanboys/girls get their say, no matter how ludicrous on Apple articles and here I am again.
I am, unashamedly, a "fan" of HP's tx and tm series tablets. They were / are amazing, and some specced almost as good as desktop replacements. I can't believe how HP put no enthusiasm whatsoever behind selling these products, I remember thinking how economies of scale we going to bring me loads more of this type of machine in the years to come, because I couldn't imagine anybody not laptops or tablets not liking these things.
Now I have some idea - HP weren't really "behind" any of these things, like for example Apple, who obviously love themselves and what they do.
My suggestion: Spin off the PC business to me, and I'll give you a percentage of my sales. Just keep making upgraded tx- and tm- clones, with the innards to rival current platforms, a range of sizes to match the wallet, and let someone with enthusiasm show them to people in an Apple shop. Show them folded playing Angry Birds or using Facebook with the Win7 on-screen keyboard, the unfold it and compile something.
Start Maya (on models with graphics card!) and design something with the pen. Use a vector sketch program to demo pressure sensitive pens. Flaming sell the things! All the things I've described would have sold the machine I was using at the time, if I'd wanted to sell it. I've been offered more than retail for my tx2530ea. No chance. That's my pocket Oblivion thank you.
Posted from an Acer 6920G with Radeon 3650 overclocked.... Now imagine what a HP tablet with a 16" screen and the same spec would feel like... nothing if not warm...
TROLL? Flaming TROLL?????? I'm sick of the goddamn troll mod. When I'm trolling, I get modded funny or informative. And when I make a well-thought out, positive contribution and explain why I feel I that way I get modded Troll?
That's not the point. The point that the GP was making was that changing the aspect ratio of an image is something you have to DO, not just forget to do.
So Apple deliberately misled the court by providing misleading "eveidence" to the court.
So what if models were used? Everybody looked at Exhibit A and Exhibit B, which may have been accurate models. BUT the picture they were given, and which will be their primary reference once the models are taken away, is misleading. Which is going to be foremost in their minds come decision time? Yep, you guessed it - the picture they have in their hand.
Very clever, Apple. Wrong, but very, very, clever. And I only thought of it this way because of the fanbois who posted replies about the models (which I didn't know about).
Sarcasm aside, isn't that what happened to Afghanistan and Iraq after 9/11?
"Oh, they might be harbouring al-quaeda!! Oh, they might have WMDs!" All due to the actions (or NON-actions in the case of WMDs) of individuals or small groups.
This is exactly what happens, the news media and American government blow the actions of a few out of proportion to support their foreign policy decisions (i.e. wars for resources).
Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get you.
It IS very timely, isn't it? And large scale, with no apparent profitable return for the (apparent) perps - no spyware, no stolen user data, BUT it changes our perception of Turkey in a way which suits Israel very nicely, doesn't it?
What - racism isn't against the law? How about homophobia? Police corruption?
And never mind laws. How do we feel about discrimination of these kinds in general? Now what do we do about broken laws? Do we change them?
How can we prove she broke the law? We look at her emails. Tough luck. If I were living in a fair and just society, based on morale judgements and an actual concept of the meaning of justice, I'd expect to be abe to do this and for her to do the same for me.
As it is, my emails are private, thank you very much, no thanks Sir Sniff-alot, but if the era was ushered in I'd be the first to say this (and volunteer).
Sometimes most of us write things we'll regret, but on this scale and in the hands of a person with that amount of power (and disgusting motivations) we need to remove her.
As for the naughty things I write to my boyfriend using my personal domain, they're embarassing but harmless. I'd consider it a fair trade, if someone needed to check my logs if I went missing in an asteroid... everybody watching everybody's back.

Why thank you! I do love an excuse to post reasonable, insightful yet saucy comments here...
To be fair, some people make very good recordings of power tools! And if I'm a "proper" audiophile I'll still enjoy it, will I?
No, I didn't. Even the best (Informative) reply to my post still concedes that decent speaker cable is necessary, and doesn't disagree about MP3...
Since when did scientific FACT get modded troll TWICE so damn quick??? Fuck you, truth-hating Americans.
And that's not a troll either, it's honest-to-goodness nerd rage! Fuck you mods!
Well, if he installs the bitcoin generator mentioned plenty of times above, I'm sure the computer will literally shit meta-coins!

Well played Sir. I used my overclocked Radeon HD 3650 to post this (almost as quick) reply...

There is NOTHING unique about the iPad, certainly nothing unique that other manufacturers do.
Shape and size? The natural results of designing a case around a screen, CPU, RAM, battery etc.
Material? Common in the Hi-Fi and A/V industry. Copied, blatantly, by Apple.
Software? OS? Walled garden? Unique, and UNWANTED by everyone that hasn't bought this tablet!! (and uncopied by any other maker!)
Sarcasm aside, isn't that what happened to Afghanistan and Iraq after 9/11?

</utopia<
It doesn't have a button for that. My HP tx2530ea tablet did, but the graphics card in that isn't as good as my Acer.
