I've been on quite a few software project ranging from small to big over the last few years.
Most of the time, if the entire thing requires a complete re-write, its not because the individual programmers are bad, its because of a lack of organization and planning at the beginning stages. Could be the fault of a team leader or lead architect (or whatever terms you choose to use).
It's easy to program, its hard to design software in a well organized, modular, scalable way. And it requires good leadership... Apple is more immature than I thought.
I am finding it increasingly difficult to take "urban" photographs in my home city (Montreal, Canada).
Unless I want to join an army of sheepish photographers taking landscape shots in designated places... I have to pretty much dodge anyone who even resembles a security guard.
But, who can blame them. Toursists with little snapshot credit card sized cameras seem harmless, yet my bulky digital SLR stands out like a soar thumb. Ironically... if someone was taking photographs for malicious purposes, don't you think he would bring the tiny credit card camera as opposed to the 12megapixal Digital SLR? Idiots.
Now when I'm in a shopping center, regardless of how dumb their policies are... I have to obey... they can kick out whoever they want.
But when I'm on a street corner taking shots of a building, and the building security walks outside to harass me... that's pretty angering. Sometimes I stand my ground... sometimes I don't. Sometimes I just say... "ok, if you want me to leave call the cops." Naturally, the cops never come:)
I don't think it conducts electricity... why not just poor a bottle of rubbing alcohol on my keyboard like once a day.
It'll prolly take only a few mins to evaporate.
I have always been a java developer, and still work in java today. I do recall a year or two ago I wanted to give c# a try, and was remarkably shocked at how easy to use VS.NETs gui builder was, and speedy the ide was.
I'm afraid I'm still married to the java style of web application development (which is what I work in). Tools I admire are the Tapestry framework, and hibernate... but for the life of me I cannot find a decent IDE!!
Eclipse being the hava posterboy I find terribly flakey. As soon as I installed the spindle plugin (for tapestry) eclipse just became a nightmare of slowness and runtime errors.
It gets even worse when you try and find a free j2ee plugin for eclipse.
MyEclipse although not free seems to do the trick nicely... is there anything else out there?
All I want is an ide that's free and plays nicely with Tapestry , servlets, hibernate, and subversion.
The closest I've come so far is Intellij IDEA... which is leaps and bounds more stable than even the latest eclipse. But unfortunately it's FAR from free.
I'm sure you've all hear this before but I'm getting pretty desperate. right now I have different projects going on different IDE's. (IDEA trial version, Eclipse, Jedit).
