Yes, that's a strength of Linux. What I want to know is, what steps will be taken to ensure that bugs of this type - whatever they might be - don't crop up again? One advantage that a large paid organization can have is strict testing requirements - I'm honestly not sure if I believe the Linux kernel is held to the strong standards that a commercial kernel theoretically could be.
The key word is "theoretically". Ask microsoft about strong standards and have them call you back when they stop laughing. Repeat with other vendors and don't hold you breath for the callback. One of the reasons linux is popular with people who need stability and quick fixes is because commercial vendors often suck at it. Like any other industry "strong standards" in software is just theory as long as money can be made going the other way. The other way being current dogma. Please shovel the bullshit somewhere else.
