Ten years ago, my boss found an unsoldered wire connection. He then took away all the soldering irons and replaced them with higher powered ones with larger bits - similar to what plumbers used.
We just got the old irons back out of the bosses cupboard when he wasn't looking.
I used to like my job despite working for incompetent managers for several years. Now I feel the same as you.
