Cheap, sturdy bike with no gears designed for moving in the flat city only, it's as stripped as it gets.

This might make some sense when traveling east-west, but north-south Montreal is far from being a 'flat city', particularly downtown (in the Ville-Marie borough, where one of the four pilot depots is planned). Unless people can shift down to climb hills more easily, won't all the bikes end up at the southernmost depot?

Can you have signs in English anywhere in Quebec ? (Business, private, whatever) An honest question - I am just wondering if it is an urban legend that you can't. Under current regulations, commercial signs can be bilingual (or multilingual) but French must be twice as prominent as English (or any other language(s)). There are also various exemptions for political organizations, religious organizations, etc. The laws may be strict, but I wouldn't call them draconian (as B5_Geek does below). For example, in terms of political debate, there is plenty of English-language media in Quebec. Also, the story that Eaton's was forced to change their sign by the autorities is, indeed, an urban myth. They did change it, but they were not ordered to do so by the government.

As previously mentioned, Cape Breton is in Nova Scotia, not Newfoundland. Nova Scotia is one of the three Maritime provinces, Newfoundland is not. Riverdance comes from Ireland, Alexander Keith's comes from Nova Scotia, and salt cod used to come from Newfoundland. But we've recently switched to producing crude oil.

Then there's the Nunavut Territory, which is actually the Innu Nation.

Actually, that would be the Inuit. The Innu nation is in Labrador (where the Inuit live too, but farther north and on the coast).
