NoMetterHowU STREAM Baby, ItsThe PLAYER That COUNTS!
Once the worst server (and therefore opensourced) Darwin now is becoming the best one, but the user side is still problematic.
No multimedia player that works on several platforms that supports more than a few formats and standards (like SMIL and Flash) which might be as important as good video codecs for high qualtity experiance.
So far OpenMASH, Finish/international project which is going Java way.
The most interesting work is currently done by OpenSoftwareStreamingAlliance, which will sone move redisgned and expanded on openstreaming.org
One of interesting web projects is Frequency Clock made by FREE RADIO LINUX people of the r a d i o q u a l i a.
...these things are already transformed from analog media Hi8 to digital media DV by using the same tapes... some people even tought of heaving Digital8 for beckup... with FireWire speed is very good and media is cheap... I think SONY wan't do it because of other products... but could it be hacked ?
and I asked for a few similar things... like possibility of inplementing a mp3 player in new D8 camcorders... and they just haven't answered... it is a pitty they are so ortodox in their stuff... I think they have quite good technology in several areas they don't plan/want to integrate.. HiFD disketts of 200MB are one of bests... I would love to use them for storying mp3 files or short DV footage... they get the money eithr way so it is not as interesting for them as it might be for the 3rd prty developers that make take it...
Does it have to be Free toBeGood?1anyway it is ...

BeOS is just greatest for semiprofesionall audio and getting in audio proffesionals market with releses of Peak and Nuendo in early 2000.
there was one project in New Zealand(they even offered a job for that but no one took it... great shame... one of those holes in open source apps... just like VIDEO editing and sound sequencing .
