I for one welcome our googled semantic Ontomological overlords.
But seriously...yes trans-linguistic queries would be extremely helpful and this peer to peer idea has alot of merit. In fact I was actually wondering how this could be done froma parallel perspective instead of a top down...and peer works.
I cannot believe that straponego's post has not been modded up to insightful...but I guess its a matter of time...
which is the one flaw in a peer based system with "superpeers"...the time cost..BUT in the end it will still get the job done more effectively and faster than a top down heirarchial categorization.
er..you're talking about under normal POLICE (municipal and state level) procedure...however due to legislative changes that have crept in under different bills (sometimes under totally unrelated budgetary bills) the federal agencies are no longer beholden to this procedure. Or rather they can get a general warrant in response to even vague criterion of a threat/criminal act that it becomes essentially the same thing.
Before you ask if any of you have a clue to what you're talking about, you really should have a clue yourself.
Its soo nice to see human compassion here...your first priority is to get homeless people out of your view?
Not education. Not cheap and reliable health care. Not better, effective and more efficient policing methods. Real estate development that is not damaging to the existing residents, environment, and beneficial to more than just the few.
No...your first priority for your public official is all about you. And what you see.
WHich is not to say you're any different from any others in America.
Not that I am saying that this GOogle free wifi deal with the city of SF was meant to rectify or solve any of the things that are more important issues facing SF and any city.
But it has an apparent beneficial result regardless...maybe. It could and probably would allow more people access to information. What they do withthat information...is a guess better answerd by someone who totally understands the power of information and access to it on a society. It may drive prices down for related and competing services or force them to offer a much more compelling package than they do now.
Which in turn will get more people online.
WHich may have an effect and may not in the city. Its just I can't shake the sense of deja vu of people complaining that electricity really had nothing to offer to improve their real lives and was just a novelty. Which was true for awhile. But look at us now. Without access to electricity in today's society, you are definitely (for the most part) disadvantaged from the start.
So in my eyes...I will be judging this cautiously as a good thing. The cities I think that get internet access to the level of electricity or water the earliest I believe will be in better shape years from now.
Next to CPU's and motherboards...your PSU is a very essential and pivotal component of your computer. And with all the new changes in format (going from ATX to ATX 2.0, the increased power demands of dual cores/sli/crossfire) I think MORE needs to be written about PSU's. Many times instability, computer issues that are blamed on everything else come down to PSU's. There are so many things that most people still don't know and isn't enough information about on these websites. Like:
1) Exactly what kind of issues derive from bad PSU's
2) Rated wattage for PSU's are usually tested at unrealistic temps (like 20 degrees celcius) when in all honesty they produce much less than that at nominal internal computer temps...why isn't there a standards body like JEDEC or the ones for displays..that will have more adequate information going to the consumers?
3) Clearer exploration of active PFC, cleaner power sources and how they effect performance.
4) Are having 2 PSU's handling load a better or worse alternative in terms of power and usage to using 1 larger more expensive one?
and others.
Its weird that one of the most essential parts of the computer is usually overlooked or considered trivial by people. I mean if you bought an expensive car..and it had a totally generic battery that undervolted and was of dubious quality you would go bonkers. But for a substantial moentary investment like a computer I see people do that all the time.
oh joy any place with a rascist forum moderator....I would advise boycotting. Especially would boycott any products that he as a brand planner has worked on or any company considering using him or his "team".
Its a very lazy blogger who uses a hammer where a scapel would be better for trimming chaff from the wheat of ideas.
If the person here had read and had really uderstood why the blocking of IPs is even being considered it is because of the very poor security precautions that many new users in china have been utilizing in preventing their pc's from becoming part of zombienets...
The above post is irrelevant, offensive, and a great way to warn away any of his possible clients (heh).
The increasing nationalism (or rather discrimination against certain countries) that is bleeding into many aspects of the internet culture/tech protocols/and security is becoming very worrisome.
How soon is it before we have RSS feeds banned from one country or another? How soon is it before we have cellular networks that are inoperable with each other ( oh my bad its already happenned)...how soon when we have certain transmission protocols banned from usage because it gives one country an advantage even if it still remains interoperable with the rest of the world ( oh my bad again..its already happenned here in Korea).
The stifling of cooperation, exchange, and innovation....this is the age we are vomiting into.
blocking alot of American ip ranges....simply because of the spam and hacker threats we have received origninating from America. Zombie nets and continual phishing scams that have US (and German) origins.
In fact, since Korea has a higher degree of broadband connections and more than America...and since it is more integrated into our lives here..the US has been the origin of some highly pubicized hacks, spam nuisances, and phishing schemes.
Honestly, I have read in the newspaper today that in all honesty not only in addition to security threats, but your slow connections and inefficient routing....it might be a better idea to route through Canada. Especially since the handoff between your mess of telcos/private line owners....just adds to the slowdown.
I mean really, the article in the Chosun Ilbo asks, why do we need American websites anyways...
I think any and all of this defeats the entire purpose of what the internet has become...and that reactionary practices based on blocking ANY nation from access...will just lead to the entire subversion of what a network without borders could have been.
because your comment is irrelevant then...you know maybe just maybe you should READ THE DAMN ARTICLE?
