Install optical detectors all around so not only do you know when people are standing behind you, but also when the boss is coming. That or you could get an elabore system of mirrors and a periscope.

I'm pretty sure it's actually an unfunded mandate , and that's the main argument. At least that's what my school's newspaper ran. The privacy argument is also there, but it's [unfortunately] slightly harder to make that into a convincing reason to not implement the plan these days.

Maybe we should have a public referendum on whether or not to classify each patent too?
It's rather unfortunate that in the United States advertising seems to be increasing in profile as an industry (see how the companies mentioned the most on Slashdot make most of their revenue), while actual development of useful (or at least interesting and insightful) products keeps getting outsourced.
