  1. What is with you and Monica Lewinski? on Bootlegging Buffy · · Score: 1

    Jon,

The impeachment hearings have been over for a while and your guy is still in office. Why do you insist on mentioning that sorry episode in every article you post here? Your sad fascination with Ken Starr, Monica Lewinski, et.al. really doesn't add anything to your writing.

GET OVER IT ALREADY! (p.s. everyone else has)

  2. What a load! on The War Against The Hackers · · Score: 0

So, if I get into Jon's house and just wander around looking into his stuff, there's no crime or problem as long as I let everyone know what I found? Hope you don't have anything just laying around that you wouldn't want the world to know. Jon, you need to think more before you post!

My computer is equivalent to my cyber house and the law should protect it as such. It should be protected under the fourth amendment as well. I don't want crackers or the government in their, it's mine damnit and I will invite in who I want.

  3. I invented Al Gore on Trent Lott Invented the Paperclip! · · Score: 1

Unfortunately, I didn't get all the bugs worked out of the AI routines - witness the claim to have invented the internet. I think what he meant to say was that he invented the @ sign which allows all of us to send email.

I'll have to upgrade his OS to Linux I guess. In retrospect it was a truly bad idea to try and build anything reliable on NT.

  4. They are a specialty item on Solid State Hard Drives · · Score: 1

Solid state disks are generally used with I/O critical database servers like Sybase and Oracle. You can place your OLTP critical data on them instead of a regular disk and see some immediate improvements in performance and throughput.

With DRAM prices having been in the tank lately, they ought to be almost reasonable (considering what they used to cost). Of course, working in the DRAM business, I say buy 'em!
