  1. This Is The Smoking Gun, Kids on Rick Moen Debunks Gartner Myths · · Score: 1

Man, I didn't realize that Windows 2K was in such bad shape. When Microsoft has to fabricate documents to prove NT is better, you know they are in trouble. There must be some numbers on Linux growth that have scared some MS executives.

Not only is this document probably written by Microsoft, I'd even venture a guess that this company has financial ties to Microsoft. This is something we Slashdotters should find out.

  2. Good points but very one-sided on Why Most Software Sucks · · Score: 1

I agree with most of this piece. However, I see other interests at work. Most of the people had interests: journalists, lobbists and soon on. I don't disagree about the fact that there is a lot of buggy software.

There also were a few inaccuracies. Win95 and Windows 2000 are completely unrelated. Win 2000 is NOT the successor to 95; 98 second release is.
As well the number of releases of Netscape is exagerated. If you count the service releases that Microsoft has released for IE then MS would have more.

And my final point. There is no effort made to see what the ultimate source of bugs is. Is it the OS, flaky web browser or the program itself.
And there were no examples of good software.

The software idustry is by no means perfect but not all software is fatally buggy. Good points but very one-sided.

So what do we call people with low iq's who exibit this behaviour? Again, this is an example of a journalist trying to justify an absolutely rediculous claim. As if my life hasn't been hard enough. Being a social outcast and all. Now my school couseller will diagnose me with having autism every time I have an encounter with him/her. Psychologists are just trying to change the definition of autism in an effort to create a new field. If you don't believe me, go to your local university and see how many branches there are. Cognitive, Neural, Physio, Clinical, ..... and the list goes on. I'll pass on the quack science.

  4. Excuses Excuses on Why geek geniuses may lack social graces · · Score: 1

Just another example of the fact the Psychology/Physchiatry/Sociology are not SCIENCES. Are all uncoordinated people 'nerds'? Obviously not, go no further than any physical study on humans. Good intelligence and coordination are rare talents to begin with. Maybe it is just rare that a person has both. Thus the stereotypes: dumb jocks and clumsy nerds. I have a BSc in CSc. I can play baseball and number of other sports. I don't consider myself an exceedingly well coordinated person but I have competed at the varsity level in level in squash. I view this as another soon to be discounted psychological theory. Rain man.
