Still the first user created is an administrator of the machine. Most people use that account (home users anyway). They still just press OK to the pop up. Or they want the pop to just go away. I still see people running windows 7 and their machines are malware factories. They said OK to one thing that downloads the rest. If they had created a non admin account and used that non admin account they would only hose that account not the whole machine. I have people that believe that they have to be admin to work. They refuse to do anything unless they are admin on the machine. I am not allowed to fire them. I wish I could.
I have a netbook (9 inch dell mini) that is running win 7 32 bit with office 2010 pro (full install) just fine. It has a 32 GB SSD. Windows, office, and the other apps use about 24 GB of disk space. I did try OSX 10.5 on it (that works too). OSX used 24GB before any other app was installed. To put a bigger SSD in this machine requires some modding to the netbook. It works for the purpose. And for some reason, windows has better battery life and is more responsive than OSX (10.5) on that machine.
32 Gigs is fine for a netbook. I even but a few ripped movies on the drive and still had room. Not a lot of room. But the system still ran fine.
Why would prisoners get this pill in the first place? Let the prison population die when they would die without this life extending pill. A prisoner has lost their rights. This pill is not something they should get. That is to say it is a pill that you have to keep on taking. If you only take this pill early in life that that is it, prisoners over the age of 140 could happen.
Shouldn't these patents already be dead? If the original owner of the patent did not enforce it shouldn't that patent be dead? This patent troll comes along and buys a dead patent and sues companies saying that they are infringing on a dead patent? The judges in the case should say something to the effect of: The patent was not enforced be fore, you cannot buy it and start enforcing it.
I've only ever really worked jobs where results count. If what needs to be done takes 4 hours that week...it takes 4 hours, if it takes 60, it takes 60. If the president of company XYZ wants certain things done...and his employees get them done in less than 40 hour work weeks he has 3 choices:
1) Fire people until everyone is working 40ish hours/week (and are unhappy)
2) Keep coming up with more work to do until they are all working 40ish hours/week
3) do nothing, keep raking in whatever money you are and have everyone else be happy with the work load.
3 seems the smart choice to me.
But 2 is what the greedy boss would do if he knew that his workers were getting things done in less time. More stuff done gives him even more money.
Well, become a citizen of Thailand and give up your US citizenship. Then you do not have to pay US taxes. That is unless you still own things in the US. The taxes on cars, and houses will still have to be paid. You could move the cars over to Thailand. The house, just sell it.
I am not saying to actually do any of that. You point is clear. People want things from the governmnet. That is what those people pay taxes for. The belief that the ultra rich pay nothing is wrong. They pay less of a percentage in taxes vs their income. What I mean by that is someone making 40K a year pays what 35-40%* in taxes. While someone making $1 million pays less of a percentage of their income. This is due that after 75K (could be 70K got to look it up again) the amount of taxes you pay on income drops. Due away with that drop. Keep the percentage the same all the way up. More tax revenue helps the government pay for things that people want. I am not so sure the congress critters would do that though. After all most of them fall into this smaller tax bracket.
*I think that is wrong. Cause I make around 45k a year and I pay more like 44% in taxes by my math and the person who does my taxes. I keep seeing the 35% number around though. I have asked and the tax person tells me a single guy pays the most. So get more write offs.
There is a disclaimer on many investment plans that goes something like: past performance does not does not guarantee future gains. This should also be applied to unions. Many pro union people claim the 40 hour work week, safe working conditions, health care, others are the work of unions. OK fine. Many of those things are law now. Safe working conditions (OSHA) and minimum pay for example. To say that without unions those would go away which many pro union people say is totally wrong. Unions could disappear today and those laws will still be here. Unions do what today for all the money they take from their members? Unions go into talks to determine what your pay is. People can do this themselves. They could even pay someone to do it for them. Unions are not needed for this.
Unions them selves are a big business. Paid for by the unions members. They say they are for the regular worker. They are out for them selves. Talk to people who are at the talks between unions and business. The unions wants a deal that will be better for the unions first. The workers they are representing second. That was the way it went every time for four different people over 17 negotiations on the east coast. 17 for 17 union first worker second. The deals were less pay, less benefits not by a lot but less. Here is the kicker, more workers were hired. The unions dues do not go down. So more workers means more money going to the union. This is the way the unions have been operating for the last 30-35 years according to the people I talked to. They will occasionally make a contract that is pro worker. Then cut it down again the next time. There is no difference between unions and "big oil" or big . That all want to increase profits for themselves. all the anti business jargon that pro union people use can and should be applied to unions as well.
But Obama has spent as much as W Bush in his 3 years in office while it took W Bush 8. Not really a good thing. The poison housing market was up and running when W Bush took office. That you Clinton. One could say W Bush inherited the poison housing market. The deregulation, and the idea that everyone gets to own a home even if you cannot afford it started and signed into law under Clinton. If W had rolled back those changes, maybe (huge maybe here) the housing market crash would have not been as bad. It was too far gone already.
I was going to put in a few links to show this. But it seems the 20 sites I checked all stop at 2009. 2010 is estimated. Even in 2009 the US debt doubled. In 2009 Obama was in office.
The yahoo page wasn't always bloated. This was may back like the 1996 days. Even another site said they were yahoo without the popups and banners. I have an email account there still. I it got when yahoo was giving out 6MB email accounts. Again that was when most email accounts were 2MB. Looks like I'll have to get another email account. I really do not like the new email layout anyway. Now I am going to have to update everyone on my email address. dammit.
I know I'll get slammed fro not running my own email server, or my own domain. I still do not need my own domain for what I do.
I am betting that your customer hit that machine very, very hard to move the cpu. I watched a tower fall down a flight of stairs and he CPU did not move. The hard drive was doa, but the rest of the computer was fine. The case was banged up, a lot, but the computer worked after replacing the hard drive. Many people did not like the 775 or the other pin-less sockets. They do seem to work fine. I have seen more complaints about the push pin intel cpu fans then the lack of pins. I have both AMD and intel machines. I want a cpu that works well for what I am using it for.
I haven't read this thread all the way though yet, so apologizes to anyone who has said this already. Samsung has had a device that stores music, video, and pictures since 2006 that looks like an ipad. The Samsung digital photo frame (OK not a real catchy name) is what it was called. Look it up. It looks like what we call a tablet today. How can Samsung be copying Apple when Samsung had a similar looking device out before the ipad? The picture of the 2006 model looks very much like the ipad. If apple is suing on looks (rectangles with rounded corners, the black frame around the screen) maybe Samsung should point to this device as prior art.
I have found that people who were in some type of 'commander' position in the military AND are technical, make the best managers. They actually understand the tech stuff and they know how to positively get people to do things. Of course there are those that are like a drill sargent too. Those people would be assholes no matter where they came from.
Maybe do not store long term. If the reaction can generate enough H2 to fuel a car on the go. We would fill the 'gas' tank with water. The water is pumped to the container to be split into O2 and H2. This is sent then to the engine. The exhaust might be sent to the fuel tank (it is water again after all). We would have cars with windows in the hood to allow the operation to work.
Need to make sure the the separation container can be shut down when the car is not in use. It also might mean the car would need to be 'on' making H2 for a bit before one could go anywhere. The old days of 'warming up' the car are back for different reasons.
I would put out the same heavy PC for all users. Here is why. Unless you are in a really profitable company, most companies upgrade computers section by section. They only do so when they are forced to. So if you get a decent PC for all users. The people that require the heavy lifting will start to complain in a year that their computer is too slow. The regular people should not complain for 3+ years. Also having fewer computer builds around, makes IT's job easier. They have fewer images to test and deploy. When the hard core programmer complains to you that the secretary will never use the computing power she has, the IT person tells the programmer exactly the point. They should never complain about the machine being slow.
I am talking regular computers for this. Not the workstation class machines. A quad core with 8 GB (or 16GB) of RAM and 1TB hard drive for all. If the requirements are quad 12 core CPUs with 196GB of RAM, that only goes to the hard core people.
I thought there was a rumor that Apple was making an iOS for the IMacs and Powerbooks? I am not sure about the power mac (the tower desktop). That way all software for those devices would come through the apple app store.
Needed: 1. Area for robots to go through that is on fire. To heat the robots up. This does not stop them but readies for step 2 2. EMP directed at the robots. Hardened robots still go through. 3. A nice liquid O2 or liquid nitrogen bath. Makes the robots hard and brittle. 4. Wreaking ball. This cracks them up.
Burning the robots should melt some parts of them. That should stop many of them. Short circuited robots do less if anything. Fire and the EMP should be used to 'kill' most of the robots since liquid O2 or liquid nitrogen is harder to come by. If we have robot armies, we should have EMP cannons.
There have been offsite/online backups for years. I remember people doing it over dial up. I set it up for a few business back then. Storing your stuff on some offsite server somewhere is not new.
I still wonder how much Apple paid to get some of those the patents. Take touch screens. I remember walking into a deli in 1996 and using a touch screen to order a sandwich and drink. Apple has us believe that they invented the touch screen with the iphone.
for the most part SUVs seem to be a refuge for unskilled drivers to feel safe behind a wall of metal. here's a scenario. you're going down a narrow road with one lane going each direction and nothing but a double-yellow line between your lane and the opposing lane. you appraoch a sharp blind curve. the other driver felt free to assume that no one could ever possibly meet them on the curve, so he's well across the double-yellow and into your lane, creating an unnecessarily dangerous, entirely preventable situation.
now then. what's he driving? that's right. a truck or an SUV.
for some reason idiots like this have licenses. i suppose when the day comes that they kill someone they'll chalk it up to "random chance" or something, that's what most morons do. i have driven both SUVs and large pick-ups before, due to having my car in the shop and needing a rental. i am not used to them as i don't routinely drive them. yet, somehow, i managed to stay in my lane at all times instead of threatening other drivers for no reason. you know what? it wasn't even difficult.
I can say the thing about BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, and other high end cars as well. The type of cars I see blowing stop signs, making right hand turns at a red light when there is a No Turn on Red sign right there, sailing right through red lights, passing on the shoulder, going straight in a right turn lane, making a right turn from the left turn lane, swerving left to make a right turn, passing across a double yellow line are high end cars. Blame the car? Or blame the driver? Crappy drivers drive all sorts of vehicles. Do not blame the type of vehicle for the driver.
Or use the company's website or intranet to access docs. You could send/phone the remote person an ID to get in.

New definition of iMac - for a high price of 50 bucks you can have all you can eat one iMac Sandwich. Personally designed and tasted by Steve Jobs.
So that is why the apple logo has a bite taken out of it.

Lets not forget the Quote from Steve Jobs himself:
"Good artists copy. Great artists steal"
One could infer that stealing from competitors has always been allowed if not encouraged by those running Apple.
