Predictable comment there AC, but sorry, I'm not anti-Semitic. I have nothing against someone just because they happen to be a Jew (or Christian, or Muslim or whatever). I do however hate the concept of religion in general.
The name isn't exactly very catchy. Sounds like some random character from an RPG. Also sounds slightly like diarrhea mixed with spore, and in fact it looks like it does take meaning from the root of those words (dia = flow, spore = seeds or whatever) as the real meaning is:
the body of Jews (or Jewish communities) outside Palestine or modern Israel; the dispersion of the Jews outside Israel
I don't think that many people of other religions are going to be happy using this thing if they find out the actual meaning of the word. Nor racists. Good luck with that, Diaspora!
I've been looking more at the latest Archos's and I'll just point out that the 43 has a resistive screen instead of capacitive (while all the other new models are capacitive), and none of them have the Android Market. If you're just wanting to play MP3s that shouldn't be an issue though, and there are Android Market alternatives if you want more apps. I used the "Slide ME" marketplace on my cheap tablet.
I didn't suggest what direction things should take, I said it's stupid suggesting that being able to use non-licensed or buggy AV equipment in your home is anything like killing thousands of people. It's not even remotely morally wrong. So it's not a reductio ad absurdum analogy. It's not an analogy at all. It's just bullshit.
It's the "aPad iRobot", seems to be made by the guys at http://hiapad.com/
To be fair it wasn't their fault that Rockchip decided not to do a 2.1 update for their processors. I actually bought 2 different, but gave the other one (marketed as an aPad "Raptor") to my brother despite having managed to upgrade it to Android 1.6 with a ROM from Slatedroid and it having the Android Market. The iRobot just has a way better quality touchscreen which makes it a pleasure to use compared to the other one I got.
If you see any Android 2.1 or newer devices from the hiaPad guys I'd recommend them. It had a nice build quality to it and you can see by their site that they care about making a good product and respond often to customers' comments.
The device I managed to get 1.6 on was made by Orphan, but the touch screen response was very jumpy and the charging connector was pretty flimsy.
Don't have any experience of other devices, sorry. My Streak arrived today, looking forward to playing around with it. Should probably do some work first though:)
Ah it appears that the planned update for the Streak was to 2.1 and it was released on 1st of May. I'm happy with anything at 1.6 or above at the moment to be honest. I have a cheap Chinese Android 1.5 based tablet, and it's great apart from the lack of capacitive screen and being stuck at Android 1.5 (the maker promised that they'd release updates for it but then never did), meaning certain apps, such as the Kindle app - which is obviously pretty major for a tablet device - won't run on it.
Exactly. As I said in another post, no matter what situation you are presented with, the bible is worded that you can't test whether it's true or not. The bible is worded so that it can have its cake and eat it.
My disclaimer here is that I and others regarded me as a "born again" believer for around 10 years (I'm well aware that others who regard themselves as born again believers will just tell themselves that I can't have been a "real" believer, whatever) and a churchgoer for over 20 years. I can understand the mindset that religious people have and am quite aware how proud Christians are for believing in something they can never have proof for.. I just now think it's an incredibly foolish way to act. It's foolish to be proud of being brainwashed to such a degree that no matter what someone says to you, you will not consider it logically - because if you feel it disagrees with your religion, you will find a way to discredit it in your own mind, no matter how much evidence there is for it. Weaker (or stronger? who knows) minded people will try to alter their perception of their religion to agree with the evidence presented to them. It's very, very, very, very, very difficult to change your base beliefs once you have them though. Terrifying even. I should know.
I'm not saying that having a religious search engine is a bad idea - it's useful to have search engines that work under specific domains. I was replying to the OP's moronic subject.
I'm pretty sure you can copy maps locally to edit yourself, if the author has allowed it at least. Yes if they pull the servers things will suck, but I don't think that will happen for a while. Any maps for LBP 1 will work for 2 and so on. 2 looks seriously amazing with it's "platform for games" concept - can't wait to have a play around with it:)
Yeah, because pirating movies is just like killing thousands of people and making the local environment unhospitable for decades. And playing your content on a non approved display is not like using an otherwise useful object as a paperweight.
abuse - pervert: change the inherent purpose or function of something
I was just making the point that technology certainly does not cause people to become narrow minded. Any narrow mindedly abusive use of a technology is entirely down to the personality of the person using it.
Would you have an ethical problem with someone using one of these devices to access their own car if they lost the key? Do you have any idea how ridiculous that is?
I'm not talking about the law here (which often has little relation to ethics), I'm just talking about what you think is right and wrong. I've always hated the sound of devices which won't let you setup your AV equipment the way you want without paying for a HDCP licensed device. I hate how Apple devices use proprietary connectors and DRM formats to make it awkward to play the movie you rented or purchased on any device you want without doing something illegal. I hate lock-in. I buy all my music, movies and books legally, but I'll only buy from sources that allow me to consume my media in a way that I consider reasonable and convenient.
I think your problem here should be with people who choose to buy pirated copies of movies, not the technology that allows for copying. Might as well make pen and paper illegal if you want to go down that route. Quit whining.
There is, and I know that at least the bible words things in such a way that no matter what happens, you cannot prove nor disprove that God did it. When good things happen people thank god for being good. When bad things happen, people look to god for support and comfort and treat it as a test, a test which god must have let happen but that's okay for some reason. It's ludicrous and is set up so that in fact it has no provable basis in fact. Any proper tests you perform would end up with results that are exactly the same results as you would get in a Universe with no god. But yet these people still insist their god is there, and even if given direct logical proof that he is not, many would still manage to twist things so that the proof was some kind of test that they must pass.
Will Microsoft start asking us whether or not we should get a discount and trust us to answer honestly?
It's definitely not say that we shouldn't be paying 1/30th the price of a game just to get a new character skin. Maps packs.. well after being brought up downloading 3rd party maps for free for Quake, Counter-Strike etc, it's pretty grating to have to pay for extra maps on a console. These days consoles are perfectly capable of downloading and storing extra maps, mods etc. Thankfully some games such as LittleBigPlanet and ModNation Racers are starting to let you do this, but I wish it would catch on with console FPSes.
I didn't say anything about atheists. Most people believe that "whatever they see is not just a figment of their imagination", that's just common sense. Superstition is where you start drawing correlations where there is none, then reinforcing them with confirmation bias. If someone is having a bad day they'll just see it as a bad day. But if they have a bad day on Friday the 13th then OMG FRIDAY THE 13th IS SO UNLUCKEH!1!! etc
The literate morons aren't much more fun.

Certainly a lot of these around though..
Ah, thanks. I tend to filter both of those things out (albeit mentally).
My Dell Streak runs Android, plays MP3s, and overall is pretty similar to an iPod Touch, just with a 5" screen instead of 4".
And as AC points out, the 5 and 7 inch Archos players are Android based.
I don't understand how your post actually is relevant to what the GP said though?
But what about all those horrifically violent flash/soon-to-be-WebGL games around? OMGZ WON'T SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN?!!!
Irony much?

They're releasing a Froyo update soon(ish). I ordered mine yesterday..

Pah. Real Christians just use prayer for all their search needs.
More like how narrow minds abuse modern tech.
