I also work in recruitment (fx ducks). The salaries for grads I have found are in the 16k to 18k for an average grad. It is possible for grads in Engineering based companies to earn in the low 20's when starting, but they have to have very good 'A' level results ie 60% and above ('A' levels are taken at 18 years of age usually, after two years of study)and also a high degree grade, 60% and above from a Redbrick University(Redbrick==Ivy league). The higher salaries may be paid in the City, but the City is a special case. There is a lot of money sloshing around there given the nature of what it does and the work is not as interesting as other types of Engineering to a lot of people.
