    I think I just might buy the dead 60s album and listen to it on my linux box, since i don't have to worry since the rootkit only compromises Windows machines to malware.

    No, actually it doesn't run on linux, it runs on Windows 3.1

    Just cover it in that clear packing tape, it should prevent scratches on the actual ipod. The scroll wheel might be a problem, but if it is just remove the tape from that area.
