I know it's cool to have all these extra things on the iPod, but think about it. How many uses could you think of for the video feature. I certainly wouldn't watch anything on it.
Adding radio is a good idea, but as mentioned by at least someone else before me, it detracts from Apple's attempts at total control.
I've seen the space elevator idea shown in different magazines. I thought it was a crazy idea. But the more you think about it, the more it seems to make a bit of sense. It also would just be awesome.
The biggest problems are keeping it together, and keeping it protected from harm, like accidently hitting it in a plane, or lightning strikes. It could become a terrorist target.
Nice to see they're really into this, but do we have to find out about it every time they get a bit higher. This topic is coming up too much on /.
I think NASA needs to try a different approach to stuff, and this could be it.

Too many people enjoy having all the little things on their cell phone. Gives them a feeling of superiority, I think.
Anyone know of a cell phone with just phone-capabilities? (no games, etc. contacts list would be acceptable)
But would we be able to hold miles of it together, without anything going wrong? That's the challenge.
That, and the money needed to build and maintain it.

It's only inferior if Microsoft isn't using it. Then, that particular piece of software becomes better than everything else.
