They shouldn't have to spend this much money to get their foot in the door. This is just mismanagement, 25% of that four billion was spent on their 500 million marketing budget when the Xbox was first released and then the other 500 million was spent on Rareware. Did they not notice that most of Rare's talent went to form Free Radical and Zoonami? It didn't cost Sony near this much to enter the market, they didn't spend insane amounts of money on marketing and buying companies that stopped making good games years ago. They just attracted 3rd party developers with low licensing costs and by making the Playstation easy to develop for.
They could lose one of their best designers. There has been alot of game designers who have quit working at a company because they were forced to make sequels or weren't allowed to be creative. The first two that come to my mind are when Gunpei Yokoi and Masahiro Sakurai. One of which wasn't even allowed to make games and the other was forced to create sequels. To be fair to Nintendo, they didn't allow Gunpei Yokoi to create games because he created the failure that was the Virtual Boy.
At least on the Revolution, the Revolution controller can already be used as a gun, the only thing this would do is add weight. It might sell on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 if they make it motion sensitive but I doubt it, as far as I know there hasn't ever been a killer-app light gun game unless you count Duck Hunt as a killer-app.
Are what make Miyamoto so great, IMO. You never hear about any other game designers doing this, let alone ones as great as him. Miyamoto truly is a humble man, he isn't even a millionaire. People who have watched the Icons on Miyamoto on G4TV have seen that Miyamoto is payed the same as any other game designer at Nintendo. He still considers himself part of the team.
It is only a matter of time until everybody is going to have to upgrade to the new firmware. Sony will probably include it on GTA:LCS. I don't plan on owning a PSP so it doesn't really affect me, but I still hope that maybe in the future they will release cheaper development kits that use disks that have less capacity so they can't be used to pirate games but they can still be used to make some small games.
While I normally don't like racing, I am all for solar powered racing. With all the racers competing against each other they find out how to make solar powered cars more efficient, possibly getting them into consumers hands faster. However, I doubt there will be many people who want them until they can get them to go faster than 60mph with a good battery life.
