I'm *not* an ubuntu user anymore specifically because of Unity. The decisions that led to that steaming pile of garbage being used as the default Ubuntu interface were infuriating at best. Hardly any user testing went into it....hell, hardly any *technical* testing went into it, which is very troubling on a number of levels.
I cannot trust Canonical to make rational decisions about the software they include in the core distribution anymore, so I've switched to vanilla Debian for all of my servers, Slackware + Enlightenment for my workstations, and a Mac workstation when there's one available.
It's not about being "too cool". It's about being sick of a crappy, poorly thought out interface that caters to users that want everything done for them. Power users and people that know what they're doing typically don't want magic - they want to know what's happening on their system and to not have an interface like Unity shoved down their throat.
So....maybe this will be the writer's excuse to upgrade the look/feel of the show:
A system update came, bringing Vista. The system all of a sudden experiences a lot of crashes/malfunctions/glitches/etc., but everything looks really nice. On the other hand, all of the aesthetic upgrades really don't do anything useful, so the system downgrades itself to an older, yet more stable and functional OS: XP.
Completely joking here, of course. I completely agree with you.
1) Who uses cell phones in the 8000-900 MHz range anymore?? I'm pretty sure that the majority of them operate in or around the 2 GHz band.
2) Who flies planes with unshielded cable and why is that an issue? I mean, *ANY* electronic device will, to some degree, create some kind of electromagnetic field that will interfere with unshielded wiring. Also: since 9/11, most of the cockpit doors are very strong, which means lots of metal, which means lots of shielding for the instruments up front.

Ummmmm....no. 100.000.000 wouold be 1%. They actually have around 10.000.000.000. So you can figure on around *400* Gbytes. I don't know about you, but give me a programming wizard or give me death!
I didn't need a Slashdot article to tell me that I think more than other people:D. But every single introvert I know fits this too...its common sense, really...if smart people get grouped with idiots, the idiots will either (a)slow down the smart people or (b) make the smart ones do all the work. Therefore, the smarter people tend to become an introvert, secluding themselves from anyone, and preferring to work alone, as they can get more done that way.
PS. I haven't read any of the posts up there, so if I'm repeating info, sorry.

That's still irrelevant because you wouldn't use Git for that anyways.
git is better than all the other VCSes

Correct me if I'm wrong.
Why doncha click the INBOX button?
Probably what they do is look up your location with your IP address, similar to what Windows Live Local does. Really easy with PHP.
