Um FPS? Craps? What's the difference?

Well the difference is that is some skill [or so they say] involved in FPS.

This is more like the pool tournaments bars have - small entry fee, and a pot split with the winners (and I assume the site, couldn't realy find details on that . . .).

IANAL and all that BS, for all I know, the pool tournaments I play in each week are illegal :)

  2. What is wrong with tape? on Hitachi Digital Camcorder Records To 8cm DVD-RAM · · Score: 2

I look at these posts, and see alot of oooing and ahhing over the _dvd_ part of this camera (and that is probably the only reason it was posted in the first place). As I see it, the only reason to have a RAM type media is if you are going to be doing random access, otherwise it just adds cost and durability issues.

Now, for still photos, DVD-RAM might be a good solution, but that is not what this camera is designed for (just a 1.1-million-pixel 1/4-inch CCD).

For video, Mini DV tape does the job just fine, and at very low cost, and high reliablity. If you want better quality create better CCD's, and if that causes a higher bit rate than DV can handle, create a new format. But I don't see a reason to move away from tape at the moment (other than to cash in on the ooo's and ahh's we have seen here today!)

The only way I'd even consider turing someone into Ebay for something like that is if they tried to screw me

That is exactly what they are dealing with:
"However, fraud that occurs in those offline transactions and spam have become the two biggest complaints eBay receives from members, prompting the changes"

Basically eBay is worried about people scaming users through this method, over which they have no control, and blaming eBay.

However, the question to ask is why doesn't eBay make it clear that these are transactions that they accept no responsibility for, and just leave it at that? I would bet that their [internal] answer is because of the money they loose from not having those transactions going through them.

ethereal (above me) has it right, "There's a difference between abhorring the "national institutions of churches" (such as the Church of England for example) as Paine did, and believing that there is no God.

However, as you probably guessed from my "God is the answer - to people who don't ask questions" sig, I don't belive there is a God (atheist). I do not claim to be able to prove this, but I hold this belief as a matter of personal ideology. In fact, my personal ideology holds that people who belive in God tend to be people who don't ask questions about the world they are in, and I have theorized that their capability to belive in God may spring from this. (note: I mostly have experience with people in the Christian religion, this may not hold true for all religions :)
