  1. Obligatory Jet Pack video on The First 'Practical' Jetpack May Be On Sale In Two Years · · Score: 1

A real world feasibility study regarding Jet Packs as a mainstream transportation tool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8X18UYqzV0s Needless to say the results are positively SHOCKING.

  2. Density quantified in understandable terms on Deep in the Core · · Score: 0, Redundant
The mass observation, coupled with the size constraints observed, indicates the object at the centre of the galaxy is definitely composed of some exotically dense form of matter.

Exotically dense.. so we're talking what.. George-w-bush-head caliber numbers? If so it's a wonder helicopters can still carry him around with the mass of 2 million suns on his shoulders.

  4. Re:I've tried it - it works on PSP Firmware Downgrader Released · · Score: 1
Now, there are only 3 PSP games I want to play, and one comes out next month, the other two over six months - and odds are, 2 out of 3 of those games will be made for a 2.01 firmware that removed this exploit.
The good news on that front is that there are already UMD loaders which will allow you to load your purchased games while bypassing the firmware check.

IMO what is really needed is a port of the 2.0 firmware which allows homebrew launches. Now that somebody's figured out how to safely update the firmware, hopefully they or another group will start work on a hybrid firmware which includes the Web browser in a 1.5-esque homebrew environment.
  5. Who Cares? on Microsoft, Intel back HD DVD over Blu-ray · · Score: 5, Insightful

Microsoft has always been in the HD-DVD camp for obvious reasons (Xbox360), so the only real news here is that Intel has jumped on with HD-DVD. Who cares? Intel is a large company, sure, but does anybody really care which optical storage format a SEMICONDUCTOR company supports? This sounds to me like Microsoft begging anyone it can to support their format of choice.
