it is un-necessarily bloated piece of software that i've rarely gotten to work on any OS and the times i had, it took a chunk of my memory to do what it needed. No more. (I've tried it on Win, Mac, and Ubuntu/Suse/Fedora)

How much indie music (as in independant, not as in the style of choice for myspace listeners) has exploded recently. Rappers selling as much as 500,000 copies and not being signed to major labels, rock bands going platinum and ending up on magazine covers and are in little or no way connected to the RIAA. Its getting pretty huge. And i believe the RIAA can thank itself for this.

for google, but lets get something straight. Google is doing this for a reason, and it's not to "stick it to the man". They are getting HUGE. They're looking to be bigger than Microsoft somewhere down the line and even with a "Don't be Evil" slogan, distrust is already bubbling up in some of the populace. Another portion of the populace still trusts them but are weary of them. This is to show the public that they're personal and private data is safe with them. It's a PR move. They'll sell it to other companies, no problem. But if they can make a media issue about how they refuse to give it up the government, maybe they've earned some trust in a few. And based on the comments both here and at Digg.com over the issue, it's played right in their favor.

It is a bad thing when they don't allow you to have the choice on what to trust and what not to, and make that decision before hand.

Not to mention this, and mark my words, will be used as a battle against open source software. It's the perfect way in which a user is locked into a software set that works on a particular hardware set. That's no only a danger to open source, but a danger to a free market that thrives on competition. This is big business dictating to people, plain and simple.

  9. questions on Ask Microsoft's Security VP · · Score: 1

Do you consider Microsoft's stance more of a marketing decision in order to force the populace into purchasing Microsoft products and further locking people in to a particular line of products, when it comes to Trusted Computing, or do you view it as more of a security move?

Also, i'd like to echo the want to know your thoughts about IE being imbedded into the OS itself and your thoughts about further imbedding other web accessing software. (WMP)
