Is this really news? I took an undergraduate quantum optics class last year that had a large part about the infinite zero point energy which exists in 'empty' space. Casimir force anyone?

  4. Apple Maths on Cringely Predicts Apple to Ship OS X for Any PC · · Score: 0
There's no sensible reason for Apple to consider allowing OSX to be run on generic x86 hardware, consider the relative costs of hardware and software:

    • Apple stand to gain from more people buying macs (average cost $x000) with the knowledge of XP compatibility
    • Microsoft stand to gain from Mac-users buying XP ($x00)
    • Apple stand to LOSE from people buying generic hardware over apple hardware ($x000) to run OSX.

It would be madness to open a new market for the hope of gaining profits on a $x00 profit at the risk of the profits of a $x000 product.
  5. PC License?! They don't deserve TV License Money! on British PC Tax to Replace TV License? · · Score: 0, Insightful

As a UK TV viewer, this scares me. The BBC are funded by the TV license fees the public are forced to pay unlike other channels which rely on advertising revenue. You might think this would mean higher quality, but no - the BBC is dying a slow and horrible death with painfully bad regurgetations of dramas and terrible sitcoms. The occassional decent comedy (and they are VERY occasional) does NOT justify the £100+ we are expected to pay just now nevermind paying for a PC. Here's an idea - split current TV license fees equally between the current Free To Air channels and let's see what happens.
