  1. Violence vs. Nudity? on Oklahoma Senate OKs Violent-Games Bill · · Score: 1

I don't have much of a problem with not selling "violence" to children under 18. Matter-of-fact, whatever is marked "violence" will make the demand grow larger for that game to the youth.

My problem is the male-slanted characters, that have gone to literally being able to adjust the "bounce" and size of the breast of women, and pits them in scantily clad outfits to feed the male appetite. Is the definition of nudity just showing an erection and showing nipples?

All that being said, the last games I have bought were Black and the last GTA. Like my movies, I really only like to watch rated R given the choice. So I don't shop at Walmart :)

  2. Anti-compete? on Microsoft Loses $126 Per Unit on XBox 360 · · Score: 1

The real question is if Microsoft is selling XBs at a loss to get more subscribers into the "pay for service" business model, or if its to snub their competitors, as MS has more money than anyone else. Price gouging? Starving the competition? Good business practices?

    Does it matter?

  3. Criteria for "worst" bugs on History's Worst Software Bugs · · Score: 1

I think this is an interesting concept, but I would question the criteria of the worst bugs being those that create fatalities that moment. I'd argue that bugs that affect a function's effeciency, or a bug that allows a vulnerability could impact many (millions?) people, for perhaps minutes, or hours.

That impact could result in lots of people losing their jobs, losing their minds, and losing their families and lives through suicide or abuse to compensate.

Think about what a virus (maybe exposed through a bug or vulnerability) could do to a small company.

Think about what a bug could do to a computer science student :)

  4. Same as file sharing / music cases on Western Software Used to Support Censorship · · Score: 1

The argument of "just selling software... not concerned with how its used..." has precedence in the file sharing cases. In those, it was not valid for the utilities like Napstar, Morpheus, etc. to simply sell / give away software that is being used for illegal activities. Interesting argument though. See the following situations: Makers of Morpheus Makers of old software application "cracking" software - like Isepic Makers of CD / DVD copying software Sellers of handguns etc. etc.
