  1. Re:How is this MORE creepy than Facebook? on World's Creepiest iPhone App Pulled After Outcry · · Score: 1

funny. And how is this app any different than http://pleaserobme.com/. Same type of data (who you are) one wanting to share where you're not, the other to share where you are. Glad my teenage girl is almost entirely invisible on FB.

  2. Google + anyone ? on Teacher's Aide Fired For Refusing To Hand Over Facebook Password · · Score: 1

I'm intrigued by the ... stupidity ? .. of this aide, who'd never *ever* consider talking about, or sharing a physical photo of a friend with their pants around their ankles with someone she knew to be a parent, and laughing about it with that parent. Yet that's what she did implicitly by having both the parent and her friend 'mixed.' While this is clearly an over-reach by the school system, and the aide ought to prevail, the bigger picture issue is that the naieve aide thought nothing of doing via social media what they'd never do F2F. While google+ seems to be losing against FB, they at least attempted to understand that we have multiple, continuously changing, overlapping circles of human interaction that we all move in.

  3. next up: NHTSA bans paper 'maps' as distracting on NHTSA Suggestion Would Cripple In-Car GPS Displays · · Score: 1

this move is so amazingly silly. One word: "maps". Some of you might remember those. Remember folding them open in your lap while driving ? I'd like my company to require neverlost (hertz) whenever we're going to a new town. Neverlost or whatever service actually make you a safer driver, gets you to where you're going, *much* more safely, especially when showing up at night, during a weekday, in the rain. This is insane.

  4. brave note for this community on Reflections On the Less-Cool Effects of Filesharing · · Score: 1

Surpeis - a few notes: Nice thoughtful note ... even in English as a second language ! I was thrilled about a decade ago, when the opportunity for artists to self-promote and self-distribute their own music seemed just over the horizon, freeing new artists from the stranglehold that the major labels had on music distribution. However that opportunity seems, unfortunately, less likely now than it was a decade ago. Itunes isn't motivated to promote free music, tho their Genius capability would seem to be tailor fit for providing 'others who downloaded this free indie music, also liked *this other* music. With that said, you're brave posting, your *thoughtful* post to the /. community. A lot of the posters from this community clearly thinks that taking things *because they can*, such as pirated music, is somehow rationalized over taking things that would *likely result in being caught* such as, say soap on a grocers shelf. Sorry to say that expecting a rational discussion from *those who rationalize stealing* is more than a little optimistic.

  5. Re:Reverse correlation? on TV Really Might Cause Autism · · Score: 1

try this: Have a kid. Wonder why he's different than the other kids. Look at him for the first three years and wonder why he doesn't smile much. Watch him scream and cry and crawl under the chairs during a basketball game. Have others that don't act that way. Now, try that post again.
