  1. Re:Confirmation on Second-gen iPhone Confirmed? · · Score: 0

Yeah that's why it didn't stop me from going there. He is actually a regional manager over about 100 stores in the Southwest, but if Apple doesn't announce it directly, you have to take it with a grain of salt --a small one. I am not holding my breath for 3G anyway. It'll happen when it happens. I replace phones about once a year anyway, am not interested in using it to download music or movies, and probably won't use half of the functionality. But I WILL buy one. The simple fact that it'll sync with my mac and it's a new toy is enough to make me want one.

  2. Confirmation on Second-gen iPhone Confirmed? · · Score: 3, Interesting

I was in a Cingular store on Friday, talking with the store manager about the iPhone and number portability. He mentioned that a second version of the phone would be out for Christmas of this year. The later version is supposed to be 3G capable. Since Cingular doesn't have the 3G coverage all in place just yet for all cities, I am not too concerned about it. My nephew will get the first gen hand-me-down when the 3G one actually makes it to market.

  3. Blueberry Blues on Cell Phone Secrets Die Hard · · Score: 2, Informative

About two years ago, I traded in my Blueberry for a Treo 600. My friends at the local cellphone shop agreed to sell my Blueberry for me and promised to clear the memory and personal data before doing so. Thru some glitch ( I love that word ), they didn't get the speed dial numbers erased from the phone. My closest family members and friends went thru a week of getting annoying calls in the middle of the night (the new owner had it in his pocket and everytime he sat down, it dialed someone on the list), before we finally realized what was happening. Thankfully he sat on it one too many times and cratered the screen on the unit in just under two weeks. When they finally got the unit back, it was destroyed beyond repair. I should have done that in the first place. Live and Learn, eh?

Fixing dead zones is not a bad idea though. I recently tried to get Tmobile to fix a dead area (which THEIR engineering map showed as "strong signal", but which was COMPLETELY dead). They came back to me --after sending an engineer out-- and told me what I already knew "It's dead". I thanked them and asked when it was going to be fixed. They told me that they didn't have it in the budget to correct the problem. sucks to be me.
