  1. This is all Jimbo's fault on Jimmy Wales Faces Allegations of Corruption · · Score: 1

He has only himself to blame. Had he actually read the original article he was so busy screwing with in between "marathon sex" sessions, he would've known what he was up against!

  2. Works great for me on Wikia Search Launches Alpha, Not Ready Yet · · Score: 1

For example, I get nothing but the most insightful results when searching for the likes of "George Bush" on Wikia Search.

  3. Jimbo Wales is in denial on Wikipedia's Wales Reverses Decision on Problem Admin · · Score: 2, Insightful

...on a number of issues. He may not have known precisely to what extent Essjay was using his falsified credentials to gain the upper hand in a multitude of content disputes, but Wales was fully aware that Essjay had created a persona based on fictitious credentials.

  4. Re:It's not thankless on Our Love/Hate Relationship With Wikipedia · · Score: 1

There is now an "appreciation site" devoted to the collection of cruft deleted from Wikipedia known as the WikiDumper at wikidumper.blogspot.org. The site is beginning to draw attention, too, receiving press from the likes of USA Today, Fortune, Der Spiegel, Boing Boing, and CNET. It isn't surprising that much of the material which is considered for deletion on Wikipedia turns out to be a hoax, but what is surprising is that some of these hoaxes manage to surving 2-3 years before being noticed.

Its no big secret. Jimbo deletes articles all the time.

Personally, I think the best part is how Wikipedia has aimed to delete , on grounds of notability, of course, any references to this group of rogue administrators.

  7. Sweet, sweet irony on Wikipedia Semi-Protection Begins · · Score: 5, Funny

This is post is a near word-for-word copy of my entry on Digg. The irony is that I originally submitted the story to Slashdot first, and they rejected it!

  8. Jimmy Wales makes self-promotional edits on Wikipedia Founder Edits Own Bio · · Score: 3, Interesting

This is something which I have been tracking for quite some time. Most of the edits Jimbo makes to his own biography are not for the purpose of removing personal attacks, such as "I love the cock", but rather to promote his involvement in the creation of Wikipedia or downplay the fact that Bomis Babes was a softcore pornography website.

Wales has gone so far as to have incriminating information about him and Bomis removed from the database entirely by Wikimedia developers; meaning it will not appear in either the edit history or the deleted items history.

Here are some examples which have not (yet) been deleted from the history outright:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jimmy_Wa les&diff=27799694&oldid=27799660
    http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jimmy_Wa les&diff=27799453&oldid=27756307
    http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jimmy_Wa les&diff=26756907&oldid=26709690
Above, Wales discredits Larry Sanger as co-founder as Wikipedia.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jimmy_Wa les&diff=26702273&oldid=26658959
    Discredits Sanger, strikes pornography reference.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jimmy_Wa les&diff=25994722&oldid=25960410
Eliminates reference to Bomis Babes erotica section.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jimmy_Wa les&diff=22555355&oldid=22551871
Eliminates reference to Bomis Babes softcore porn.

Mind you, if anyone else on Wikipedia violated this policy, or "guideline", they would be nailed to the cross, as has been done in the past.

  9. Important update from Jimbo Wales himself on Wikipedia Adopting Semi-Protection of Pages · · Score: 2, Interesting

Important Note from Jimbo to news media: I see that some news media have picked this story up as if it is important. Please please please don't do that. This is one of many changes to the software which are coming soon, including the ability to put pages into a 'validated' state (better name should be determined) and so on. Treating this as a major policy change is therefore a huge huge error being made by people who have no understanding of how Wikipedia works.--Jimbo Wales 16:00, 17 December 2005 (UTC) [1]

Is this some form of complicated reverse psychology, or does Wales really believe that he can tell the media what they can and cannot cover as news?

  10. Re:stop making fun of wikipedia. on Wikipedia Hoax Author Confesses · · Score: 2, Informative

Wikipedia routinely blocks open proxies, and recently they've began blocking anyone using Tor onion routing. Evil doers can, however, edit Wikipedia with impunity from the largest proxy in the world, America Online; Wikipedia admins are not allowed to block an AOL IP address any longer than 15 minutes, to prevent "collateral damage".

  11. Wikipedia gives AOL vandals special preferences on Wikipedia Founder Sees Serious Quality Problems · · Score: 2, Insightful

One of the biggest problems with Wikipedia is that they give special preferences to anonymous vandals who use America Online to carry out their misdeeds. The Wikipedia block user interface specifically suggests to "keep blocks in these ranges to 15 minutes or less" when blocking a vandal within AOL's IP range. No other ISP in the world receives this sort of favoritism from Wikipedia; repeat agitators from all other internet service providers are blocked for hours, weeks, days, months, and, if necessary, indefinitely.
