You are referring to the 3 and a bit inch floppies... The old 5 and a bit inch ones were the opposite.... (I think so anyway). Them were the days -- floppy disks were actually floppy!

There are different quality settings for the PNG format, and not all pictures are the same. For some, JPG will be better, for others, PNG will (and sometimes is far-) better

I know this will probably get laughed at, but seriously... What about IIS ? AFAIK, ebay uses IIS, and from what I've used of it, it can do just as much as Apache (but I only have limited experience of both....)

I couldn't agree more with Sycraft-fu on this. I mean -- you aren't forced to use Windows Media Player, or Internet Explorer, or MS Office, or even Windows itself. OpenOffice v2.0 even goes some way to looking a bit like Office 2003 (but not enough that anyone could say they were copying it). If you don't like it, don't use it! Some people actually prefer using Windows, Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player, Microsoft Office etc.

    Why not use PNG?

I use it a lot for photographs. The quality is (usually) much better, and most of the time the file size is smaller as well.

What sort of computer are you using? I am currently running Windows XP Pro with SP2 with no problems whatsoever. Yes, it is definately worth using the product that is best suited for what is necessary, but the thing is (as other people here will agree with), what is the point of targeting the minority product ? When firefox was first released, it was declared rock-solid. Now it is being used by a wider audience, they are discovering more 'holes'. (Anyone know of the status of Opera on security?)
