  1. Why Redhat on Jobs Offers Free Mac OS X For $100 Laptops · · Score: 1

It appears to me there are many valid reasons to pick RedHat:

    1) RedHat IS paying $2 million for this project, and is one of the 5 companies spear heading this.

    2) You can't afford to call up apple / microsoft and say 'hey remember that OS you gave me free? can you please spend time getting this to work for me?'

    3) I'm sure the Develops WILL recompile the kernel, and make it just for the laptop in particular. Probably configure everything, and then take an image of the hard disk

    4) IIRC, applications like apt, synaptic, yum, yumex can be easily ported to whatever verson of RH they are running, and RedHat still runs the repositories

    5) Mac OS / Windows tend to be rather resource hogging compared to Linux (esp with recompiled kernel). Remember, this hardware won't be top of the line

    6) Using a GPLed product like Linux ensures that the OS STAYS free, and you will never have to pay / activate the OS / Do any work at all.

I thought the DEFINITION of having a backup is that you are allowed to use it when the original gets fscked.

So if the original CD is lost, or stolen (ex: stolen from your car), then you SHOULD be able to use your copies. That is why it is called a BACKUP

    Ernie Ball Case

The Above article may look like FOSS advocacy, but read the reason the company went pro FOSS.

Bill got $100,000 from that suit alone.

Don't get me wrong, I never said Bill was a bad guy.

    It's just my $0.02

  4. Robin Hood on Bill Gates Donates $258 Million to Fight Malaria · · Score: 1

It really is none of our business at all, but I really think Bill is trying to establish the image of Robin Hood For Himself.

He is robbing the rich (basically everyone on the planet who is 'rich' enough to buy his software, not to mention large corporations through law suits), and giving the money off to the poor.

A modern day Robbing Hood if you will

  5. Bad Feeling on Vista To Get Symlinks? · · Score: 1

I have a bad feeling that somehow this will be a cause of MAJOR security hole

Virus may simply cause symlinks to various important files, and let the administrators fsck their own files

I don't think windows is ready for the concept of sym links yet

I may be wrong, but we'll just have to see

That could be because many of the top Bollywood performers are also singers.

    Actually, this really isn't true.

The music industry and the film industry rarely have people crossing over.

They work together very closely, as music is a very important part of the scene, but singers rarely become actors and vice versa.

However, every Ms India / Ms India who became Ms World / Universe / Foo automatically has a long acting career ahead of her
