  1. Re:Middle ground? on Mac OS X x86 Put To The Test · · Score: 1

"unwilling to buy an Apple machine"

"If Dell, Sony, et al, were to..."

Who says they would buy from Dell or Sony either? If I bought from one of the companies, it would be Apple by far, but I mostly mix and match, buy new parts when released, upgrade fairly easily. I'm interested in purchasing the OS X when it becomes available, but I'm not going to go out and purchase a PowerMac G5 (mostly due to cost). It would also be alot more convinent to me to just install OS X on my home computer than purchase another computer for OS X.

And if I get that little apple logo as a sticker, my case will wear it proudly. :)

Also think of the possibilities of how people would rather spend a couple hundred dollars on OSX x86 and (in a way) test OS X, then a few months, year maybe or whenever they decide they need a new computer, if they've gotten used to OS X and perfer, why buy an OS X computer from Dell or Gateway or any other manufacture when they can go straight to the source, and get it from Apple?

I think a lot of people will end up buying OSX x86 and install it, then when the time comes and they need / want a new computer will all these prettier graphics and faster dual core 64 bit cpus and such, apple will start to see a significant increase in hardware sales.

  3. No more testing games... on The Death of Used Game Sales? · · Score: 1

Well... I guess when (if) this happens, I won't be getting as much games for a while, I'm not going to want to spend $50 on a game certain reviews and such say is good and turns out to be crap. I'd rather waste $5 and play it for a few days, (renting) and if I like it, then spend $50. Otherwise I'll just wait a year or so until the price gets down to $20. And about Sony and it's DRM, it's not going to affect my purchasing of the PS3. I don't see how DRM affects me playing a console game (excluding the statement above, and playing games at friends houses, plus most of my friends come to my hosue anyways...), diffrent that audio, I don't plan on ripping the game to my computer, and different than a DVD, I don't care much for backups. I buy the game, put it in the system, take it out, back in the case, and kept out of reach of children. (You know...they need that tag on certain games "Keep out of reach of children", not that I have kids or am too concerned about kids playing GTA, I could care less, but I don't want them stepping on my games and breaking them) Just my $0.02

  4. Google VS Libraries on Reining in Google · · Score: 1

If I searched Google for a phrase or paragragh in a book, for research or a school assignment wouldn't that be similar to me going to the library? I can go to the library, search for the book, search for a specific passage or section and read it all free of charge, I don't even have to check out the book. Google (to me at least) just seems like it's making this processes easier and a lot more convenient. I can just get online, search and it's there, instead of getting in my car, driving for 30 minutes, getting to the library, and hoping they even have a copy in stock, writing down the information and driving back 30 minutes. Plus that wastes gas, and isn't the media saying try to be conservative on your gas? (I know that last sentance is slightly off-topic, but still slightly relevent)
