Id like to see some real world data to back up the claim that mac or any other OS is gaining anywhere except for in the Ipod world...Linux will never take over Windows, no matter how many people bitch. As a matter of fact, linux networx is so close to being out of business out here its not even funny, gee, and the guys that left are now playing in the windows world. Just cause everyone uses it doesnt make it cool, its like the VW bus, its ugly clunky and unreliable, but some people swear by it still... hey, you can sleep in it, can you do that in your car??

The majority of the public will use the IE browser, as well as most govt. agencies and large corporations. Thats where the $$ is. The tiny fringe of opera/firefox etc... users who sit and whine about how much it sucks really dont matter. If you are really that tech savvy you would realize this...

"Microsoft != Apple. In principle, Windows 9x aimed to be a clone of Mac OS 7.x with rudimentary memory protection. " While this may be true (although Im not convinced) that still leaves the fact that Apple's marketing department sucked so bad that they couldnt get the thing out the door to the masses. Microsoft did that, they aimed to put a computer in every house in America and through whatever wizardry (deals with satan, etc...) they used, it worked. Jeez, if we had waited around for apple we would all still be making little line drawings in art class talking about the days when computers would perform complex tasks for us...

  5. Re:Problems on IE7 Leaked · · Score: 1

While Im sure it will be compliant with other OSes by the time it gets a proper release, I think it would be extremely amusing if they did not support any other OSes, windows only, thats it and thats all. That way everyone who thinks Linux, Mac and others are so "superior" would find out that superiority isnt gained by being different. Sometimes being different just means your wrong or going about things the wrong way. Kind of like those guys that are running bio-diesel. Sure, they are saving .20-.30 at the pumps, but they are also spending countless hours in the garage trying to perfect the mix, so is it really more efficient. I guess I just dont buy into the "microsoft everything they do sucks" theory. IMHO, they brought computers into the mainstream with understandable interfaces and ease of use. Without MS, most of us that work in software engineering would probabaly be out of work right now, or never even gotten into software engineering in the first place.

There are no mines that are really sitting idle... maybe bankrupt. But not idle, Kennecott copper has been going for years and years and shown no signs of slowing. The difference is probably in the grade of copper and the cost to refine and process it, then factor in the cost to OGM for reclamaition and the price really needs to be extremely high to be profitable.

"Its buy, buy, buy! and look, if your too stupid to upload to another media device, this will play nicely with your iPod, you should go buy an iPod!!" Its an overpriced media service for an overpriced media player. If you dont want to be tracked and or monitored, then dont use such commercialized crap. Check out iRiver's media player, it accepts most anything in any format, licensed or not.. and yes, it plays video too, for those who want to watch their movies on a 2x2 screen...

In the past 15 years Ive gone from entry level IT well over the 6 figure mark. Done it by progressively bouncing from one position to a better more challenging position, I usually end up holding a job for 1-2 years. and yes, if your in the looking market there are things you need to do to be competitive and get your foot in the door. I use it everyday, while I admit, it has gotten to be full of crap there is still some good stuff to be found and at a good price. Takes a little more time than it used to though.. however, for the most part, they have managed to weed out all the scumbags, the ones that take your $$ and run, not much risk of that with PayPal payments. I regularly buy x-box games new for $10-15 shipped. (granted they probably fell out of the back of some target store somewhere) And you can make a pretty penny if you know how to use ebay and sell all sorts of random shit. Not advocating Ebay here, but the following is huge. The few people who boycott it are showing themselves to be out of touch with the current technology and how to make $$ with it. That said, as soon as Google comes up with a replacement I will jump on that bandwagon and drop ebay like a sack of flaming poo...
