Guys, it is like if they make a sequel to The Matrix. Anyway we wouldn't watch that, so let's allow them to write as many sequels to 'I, Robot' as they want. Aren't there a lot of these around, by the way?
I took online classes in DeVry University/Keller Management School last year, and used only my home Linux computer for that.
Apart from a project management class that required MS Project (demo-version works under Wine), all was fine until the final class, where prof strongly insisted on everyone using only Office 2007 docx/pptx files for everything. At the same time Devry administration issued a letter that whole university migrates to Office 2007, and everyone should have it. It was very disappointing decision.
Installation to the "App Data" folder makes it possible to instill Chrome by users without Admin rights.
For installation into Program Files you need admin rights or special permissions tweaking.

Could you please mention the software that you used for this kind of NNTP/email gateway? is it Mailman?
I always wonder how you should manage the office of Linux computers without AD and policies.
