  1. mplayer on windows brings smiles to me on MPlayer Developers Interviewed · · Score: -1, Offtopic

if there is another successful open source project like firefox that spreads over to the win platform and hits it big this could mean more respect for opensource projects and possably more people willing to switch over. i know firefox was a big part of what let me feel comfertable switching over to linux. just imagain if some one has a windows system with firefixed for there internet browsing.. mplayer for there meltimedia and open ofice for there fancy text editor.... at that point it would not take much to move then over to a new OS since there forminlar with most of the software they use. ps: i noticed in reviewing what i wrote that i acidently typed 'firefixed' instead of firefox but i liked how it sounded so i kept it... gues my subconsus is working overtime

  10. dont read this... on How to Write Comments · · Score: 1

damn it i said dont read this... oh well u asked for it... i think there is not really a good "rule" for how one should comment code. good commenting is like painting(or any other art). if u work to hard at it u can get an overdone piece of crap and look like a fool(//commenting every little obvious thing(//like me commenting this...//jk//no really jk//or was i???)). now on the other hand if u put too little comments you can really confuse others who have to read your code(and when u are one of the others reading ur code that just leaves u questioning ur self like... was i really that stupid.... wait no... that was a good idea look here see... wait no... fuck that was the problem i have been looking for all-along...//repeat endlessly till you brain get tired and just rewrites all the code over...)... in both cases the code gets written..... but they both end up takeing more time then they should have taken u(just think of how that time could have been well spent reading /. ... now cry... yes cry and promis not to do it again)....ok so i have said nothing new really: so whats my point???.... um i dont know(let me reread my previous _comment_ to figure out where i was..)... i think it was some thing about how there is really no best "rule" of how to comment code......
so it seems that making a good system of rules to comment code's goal would be to avoid the above problems...
WRONG.... well kinda the real truth is it depends what are the common goals of the group coding(present and future)... and that will always determine wheither the comments are good.(and yes there are time when no comments are aproperate//not normally though) just think of all the differtn commenting styles and there advantagesand disadvantages ::> there is the i just want this shit to work comments... jsut enough that it makes sence that nihgt ur working on it... the i know some one else will be reading this comments... the i know some idiot will be reading this i better comment every thign for them... the i dont givea shit comments. the i catn splle connemts. the look how fucking pretty they are comments... the inconsistant commenter(says what going on here but not there).. the comments liek to be on one line damnit commenter. the //no comment .... commenter... my favorite. the offtopic commenter. the code works but but dont read the comments cause they dont really describe what the hell its doing comments... the the code dont work but if u read the comments it tells u how it should of been written commenter... um...... then there are commenters like me that start out with good ideas but in the end whe u read it ur left thinking WTF is that fool tryign to say........they all have there place some time or another(some are jsut there to show us what codeing would be like if we all that lazy)
