The fact is that Telecom can disconnect any phone line from the exchange when a 111 call comes through. I know this for a fact as I have been on a voice call at night about 2 months ago and I was disconnected and a message played stating that I had been disconnected because of a 111 call request. So this basically means that they already have the capability to disconnect calls from the exchange for emergency 111 calls. Why can't Telecom just own up to it and say 'Okay we don't like competition and we can't think up a pausible excuse to get rid of them at the moment, so here's a bunch of made up crap to make everyone think that it's the internet usage causing the problem.' I'm inclined to agree with the comment about the number putting the internet users outside the 'Kiwi share' agreement. Very sneaky.
And you might want to set the "minutes until blank" to 0 otherwise the screen saver activates and then the graphics shows up for "minutes until blank" then the screen blanks
Think about how it would speed up entry into say the IBM "Itsy".
Maybe they should take the test experiment with communications over human skin (potential) and measure the nerve impulses in the hand to input information.
Here in Auckland, NZ an ISP of sorts, KCBBS , supports a Wavelan connection locally up to a maximum of 15km. These cards apprently give you around 2mbps with the correct antennae. This would be a far cheaper option if you didn't need it outside of the central business district. Maybe they'll lend me a card to test this theory.;-) Imagine what the cost would be like using the Iridium connection. Yikes. Have to wait a couple of years
Well done Rob. I hope that someday soon you'll get some financial support from a company willing to let you retain full control of the content of Slashdot.
Xerox already developed flat screens at 300dpi

I saw the Sony Flat Screen Tv last weekend and it was pretty impressive. Although it's $17000NZD. 1st division Lotto would be good or a bonus!
Anyway Xerox has already developed at Flat screen capable of 300dpi. Now this is cool.

I think that your prayers have been answered, the Matrox G400 apparently will do this and more.
