Actually maybe we should use the fittings for Water/Oil cooling CPU's to heat our hot water instead of using a hot water heater. Might save some money in heating bills.
Hey you could replace the heatsink and fan with a pump and tubing to heat the bath while you use it. Thought of something like this instead of fans on heatsinks for heating rooms. But this would be one better.
He has an opinion. We have ours. How about the truth. If all that information was online imagine what sort of things could be done with that information. For one my(his) important job would be done the tubes. TOUGH!
Doesn't AOL have some fine print somewhere in their contract with a user that they are not allowed to have forbidden content on their site, through their connection to AOL and in their forums? And they state that they police this. If this is true then AOL probably would be liable in some respect because they stated that they would police it. A small ISP on the otherhand, may say that they are not responsible for any content in their users site or forums and that they don't police it.
I've just moved from Auckland, NZ to Dunedin, NZ. Basically from the top of New Zealand to the bottom. Cold place, but beautiful. I left a fulltime salaried job and am now intending to do fulltime telecommuting. I already have a small contract for a month or so and several other possibles. Currently I don't require a high bandwidth connection because all my contracts will be for companies also based in New Zealand. I see two ways of getting in contact and getting data from companies. One CDROM media the other the Internet connection. At the moment my Internet connection is via Satellite dish, but with outgoing traffic going through a modem. Incoming speeds are up to 4mbps. As usual this depends on the route you get to a site or server.
So far not many of the companies I'm dealing with mind too much about the distance, just as long as the work gets done and doesn't cost too much.
There used to be a page for finding driver support in Linux here, but it appears to have disappeared for the time being. If you find it again. Can you post it up please.
I am wondering if there are any plans to implement server hopping in the future. Something like gates in a level or doorways that lead to another server somewhere else. I can understand that this will cause latency issues, but it would be kind of cool if you could leap through into another game and play there and then bring back players to the other server. It could also allow for multiple servers at the same location to host pieces of a larger level each with a high amount of complexity without overloading a single server by rendering the whole level for everyone playing.
An article on Computer Design's Electronic Systems page mentioned some factors that portray Firewire in a slightly different light when making comparisions in speed. But the firewire technology exists in consumer electronics as well, all without a Personal Computer in the midst, so Firewire appears a lot more flexible and transparent than USB at the moment.
This is it. This is what it really is about. Freedom is not just about speech. It's also about having the ability to react, think and interact without restriction, but being responsible for your actions. I you have an opinion on some subject and you aggressively attack someone else about it, then you are the one who did that and the consequences that stem from that are yours not the other person for having a different opinion. So on with the show. And don't forget the tomatoes.
Firewire support on an Intel based motherboard

Is firewire dying?

I don't see Firewire dying either. Not when you have a motherboard manufacturer like ASUS making a P3B motherboard with Firewire inbuilt. Pity that they didn't give it the full set of 4 sdram slots though.
Try Nonags - Desktop Utilities - Freeware there are several very small ones and like someone else said. If you have a matrox they have a virtual screen program included with the card software. In fact alot of graphics cards come with software for virtual desktops now days. Hope this helps.
Sorry about this slightly off topic. Native Forest Action need your help. They are a New Zealand based group that stand up for the ridiculous government and company schemes to destroy New Zealands Native Forests and Wildlife.
This is half the reason for species extinction in New Zealand.
Could you please go to the site at some point and have a read and submit your email to the government.
I agree with this. If we're causing the extinction of a species, it makes some sense to make an effort to bring it back into existence. We already have special places for species in danger of extinction, like the Black Robin here in New Zealand, and now we have a possible way to bring back a species that was extinct because of us and then we could preserve them as protected species. The two approaches have a similar effect of sharing with other species. I do think that special attention should be paid to ensuring that we don't modify the species actual DNA and create something slightly different for our own purposes. Mutation is definately out. So that leaves bringing back things like dinosaurs and other species that didn't exist around our time out of the picture.
I would however love to see a Moa alive and well also.
I've asked them about whether the system will work on 240VAC several times and had no answer so I decided to do the same thing and unsubscribe. That didn't work either. I've heard that they just don't have the time to field requests from people all the time. I think this is a definate customer service problem. If they want to advertise through the Web and Email then they should listen to the people responding from those directions. Still getting spammed to this day.

How do you get the damn thing to turn the volume down once you've cranked it up?
Doesn't XML fill this role rather well.

My one likes to yell "Weee" when it's turned upside down. Laughs a lot too.

Maybe we should have a vote as to the name.
I'm sick of these version numbers being tacked onto programs. It's almost as bad as Rocky 1,2,3 or Scream 1,2,3 blah...
How about Netscape Mozilla if they want they name next to it.

Imagine what these kind of CPUs could do in spacecraft. Much lower heat output work in vacuum, etc...
A friend of mine has setup a couple of WaveLan cards on two linux boxes separated by about 3km. They share a connection to the net via Satellite.
He says it is a pretty cheap solution for them because they also get to share resources between servers as well.
I thought that was the idea behind the Apple Airport Hub with 56k modem?

Does the GeForce support two video out ports?
I know you could run two cards for the same effect, but I was just wondering?

Does the command line http transfer work okay?
I was wondering if it might be something to do with your browser.

Sounds like an even smaller version of robots in the movie Runaway with Tom Selleck
