Not really. What happened last time was that the EU failed to pass any directive on patents. If we get a clear "no" this time, I think it'll be dead for a while.
If people want to try to kill software patents, don't try to discourage them! Given how poorly software patents did last round, it is certainly possible that software patents will be abolished across the EU.
Heh! No, we had to invent xxx to compensate for the proven fact that every time we make an observation, the Flying Spaghetti Monster is there changing the results with His Noodly Appendage.
Usually if a theory relies on the existence of something which cannot be proven, it's the theory at fault.
Prove it?

and isn't something you should expect to build a whole program (so to speak for a scripting language) with....
felony conviction... and consequent loss of voting rights
Seriously? Is that during incarceration, or afterwards as well?
Does this mean that if your government makes law that (indirectly, of course) makes its political opponents felons, those people can't vote to remove the government? It sounds like a nasty security hole in the check against the government's power.
Now, of course the honest thing to do is to give them both the same numbers
Not necessarily, IIRC. Especially when determining the value/depreciation of assets, some firms apparently keep different sets of books: one set that is legally required for government agencies, and a different set that the firm believes is more useful for making decisions. I don't see anything wrong with this in itself, but it can obviously get you into trouble if you start reporting to the government from the wrong set of books.
At least, that's what my accounting teacher said way back when I was in high school. YMMV.
Your address book, bookmarks, calendars and other items can be synchronized and accessed on.Mac from anywhere or even shared between multiple computers!
So, to spin it another way,.Mac is a security disaster!;)
WD is CRAP. I've
gone through a LOT of WD drives and I finally learned my lesson, I'll NEVER buy another WD, EVER..
I fried a few by putting the power cable on backwards with the PC running, but that was my dumb fault.
IDE drives aren't hot-swappable, backwards or not, and you need to take proper precautions against electrostatic discharge.

We want... a shrubbery!
No, no, no! It is clear that that Flying Spaghetti Monster touched the monkeys with His Noodly Appendage.
People should learn about the problems with software patents.

Rally the forces, we must stop the incursion of salesmen onto technical forums before the damage is too great.
An example of two statements with no relation to each other.

Better Perl than PHP.
Egad! The old joke is coming true!
I heard Perl 6 was going to be merged with Python. ;)
GPLv2 was easy to understand.
The preamble may not be directly binding, but I bet a judge can use it in his interpretation of the terms and conditions.
No kidding, I noticed the same thing! GPLv2 was a much easier read, though I haven't figured out *why* yet.

I'm curious: When was the last time Microsoft, by its own initiative, announced that it had found a security flaw in its software?
I would add that a "mistake" implies a lack of malice, which apparently isn't the case here.

Copy-and-paste is more likely.
