for the normal joe now, this maybe true, was just a short time ago that everyone was happy with 56k dial-up! as for current real-world applications, most of them i think would be on the local network. things like booting a network OS, over-the-wireless OS installs, mass file distributions, large OS updates, re-imaging desktops, etc.
Well, because free speech is good for business, stifling personal freedoms is bad for business. I don't see why personal freedoms has to be at odds with good business opportunities.
From the definition at wikipedia (i know, their souces suck): "Capitalism is an economic system in which the means of production are privately owned and operated for a private profit; decisions regarding supply, demand, price, distribution, and investments are made by private actors in the free market; profit is sent to owners who invest in businesses, and wages are paid to workers employed by businesses and companies."
In no part of that is there a clause for for taking away personal freedoms or being greedy. I have worked with a lot of companies and most have not been out to get anyone, they usually do business with a sense of do no harm. But like individuals, there are sociapathic companies that have no sense of morality, and give the rest of capitalists a bad name.
I would disagree, this sounds more pro-capital. An employer who has nothing better to do than browse facebook sounds like a recipe for disaster business-wise.
actually, i did a job that a customer had a dying hard drive in a sco server. the tech support was actually helpful! that was about 6 years ago though....
no, wikipedia isn't about free speech, its about informed and sourced speech. if you want free speech, go with uncyclopedia.wikia.com, and post willy nilly.
your looking 4 years in the future for an OS that has only been around for 2 years..... they way things are changing, i'm sure by 2014 we will have some new crazier gadget/os, and whoever is raving on about IOS or android will be looked on as old farts......
why is it the rest of the animal world has gotten by just fine without incessantly tracking each other? it seems monkeys, zebras, lions, etc. have gotten by for ages without know whats going on 2 neighborhoods down, but humans can't handle it?
it seems the 2.2 update fixed my gps on the vibrant, but yes, a year later does suck.

not irresponsible if this is the only way to get true innovation, it seems once people get through college, they lose the ability to innovate.
you didn't take into consideration that while in their wormhole, they might have accidently went through ANOTHER wormhole? :P
