If I order an Uber I am almost guaranteed it will arrive in 5 minutes. Calling emergency services in my country is a joke. By the time the ambulance actually arrives I am in all probability already dead.
How are loot boxes different than collectible card game sets or grab-bag sales at school fundraisers?
Digital vs physical. You're getting something that has value from a CCG or grab-bag.
Lot's of things are digital or abstract that have value. A physical MtG has almost no more intrinsic value beyond it's digital counterpart, besides the paper it is made of. I take it you don't own any Bitcoin either;)
Jesus, fibre/isp providers do not sell services/channels. Cable companies do. With your connection to the internet you have access to bazillions or resources. Hardly what I would call a bundled deal. Most people just don't understand the kind of power they would be giving away. The OP is an idiot. I'd rather pay a little more (come on, internet is god damn cheap) than cripple something that I think is a basic right, unfettered access to information and communications.
Like, if i wanted to pay for an internet package that only allowed Netflix and nothing else, but was drastically cheaper...why not?
Because the internet is NOT a collection of services. It is a tool. Your thinking only from the perspective of a consumer and not say something like a small business. It's narrow minded to think of the internet as an entertainment service only when it is sooooo much more.
I think doing sorting algorithms, math problems and string manipulation hardly counts as "fun" when it comes to programming.
Rather get them to do some ascii animations (walk, wave, punch methods), ascci men, ascci dogs and birds etc. What about simplistic clones of zork? (lots of if else logic, multidimensional arrays perhaps).
I have found that to get students (at least younger ones) interested in programming staying away from the more formal cs examples is the way to go. Doing these more challenging game like projects, although slightly harder will eventually incorporate the more formal sorting, searching, string manipulation excercises into them anyway without them being the actual focus. They will be so distracted in that they are making a small game, they wont even notice their learning the formal stuff.
Just keep the rating private? Buyers can't see the sellers rating and vica versa. Aggregate ratings once a week or month to anonymize the ratings and there you go. Am I missing something here?
Ok this might be a really stupid highly uninformed question, but how long would a perfectly spherical graphene balloon contain helium at X PSI? Perhaps 2 layers one slightly offset to the other one to cover additional gaps?
If your children excel academically in any way I would say that helping them develop socially is your greatest challenge. Most intellectuals, genius or not, really struggle with that facet of life. I know I did. I'm not saying I'm really smart of by any means a genius or something, I'm just saying that I was one of those nerdy kids that really *loved* math and science and was largely ostracized by most kids because of it.
You don't need a degree to do programming, web, development or syadmin type jobs. What you need is experience. Lots of it. experience.experience.experience. That's what the last 17 odd years in development taught me. I have no formal education at all, self taught all the way and I'm pretty good at what I do (if I do say so myself) You are going to have to prove yourself in the beginning, but once you gain their trust along with some good solid experience, nothing can stand in your way if you persevere. It's easier if you have a passion for it. Good luck.

Jim: Hey there
Bot: Good day sir.
Jim: Semi colon drop table language
Bot:???????????
When we said we wanted flying cars, this is not exactly what we meant!
Responding to a question in a Reddit AMA, the self-described eccentric millionaire said: "McAfee is one of the worst products on the f**king planet."
Razer did something similar, it is called Project Christine.

I did what I had to and chucked it away!

A three sixty degree turn that will allow us to set foot where no one has gone before.
So much for changing direction :/
