Yes but it doesn't make any difference whether the heat source is above or below since you just need to turn the steak over to cook a different side.
It doesn't make a difference as far as the heat applied goes, but with (American) gas/charcoal grills, the fluid from the meat drips down onto the elements or coals, gets superheated, and flavors the meat. With the heat source above, the liquid tends to pool on top of the meat. That also tends to make the meat sear less than a heat source below.
If the USA had a national team that was respected in a "world standard" sport such as football, then perhaps 9/11 wouldn't have happened.
The last FIFA rankings have the U.S. ranked 10th in (association) football. Granted, that's different from respect, which would come from winning World Cups. But then you would get a backlash from people who are sick of Americans winning everything...
If you look at the court document linked by another poster, you'll see that 95-98% of his crop was found to be Monsanto's GM canola. It wasn't an accident. The source of the seeds is unclear, but the guess is that the farmer intentionally collected seeds from other plants grown from other farmers' seed which blew off of their fields. So he deliberately targeted those seeds.
Apparently the other farmers had an agreement to keep purchasing seed from Monsanto, not to harvest their own seeds.
Everything else has 'advanced user' setup. Why can't we have advanced tech support?
Because everyone will choose that. You may have to add a warning, "If you demonstrate that you aren't in fact at advanced user, you will be mocked mercilessly."
It is a fallacy to believe that an employer will value average work from a clearly above-average worker the same as average work from an average or below-average worker.
An employer will pay the above-average worker more to begin with.

The problem I can see is that you can only charge the battery back up to full, so to use meaningful amounts of grid power you'd have to run the battery down just as you get to a charging spot.
I'm not seeing the logic here.
If I drive to work and back and that doesn't drain the batteries fully, but I plug them in and recharge them to full, I'm still avoiding having to use fuel. I don't see why fully draining the batteries is a requirement, I assume these cars' batteries don't have a memory issue or they wouldn't be very effective.
The 40 hour work week etc are now all protected by law. Unions are unnecessary, as all basic worker protections are protected via laws.
Laws can be changed, and the Bush administration recently tried to change how certain classes of workers were classified WRT the 40 hour work week. So that exact protection you're talking about was just about to lose some of its strength.
Governments do not create wealth, even when they try.
No, but they can destroy it. Let's say that a government can choose between two otherwise equal alternatives for a service, one free, one not free. Which should they choose? A free one would allow them to reduce spending or spend more on other vital services.
I love rats, especially the Gambian Giant Rats, and just the thought of them scurrying to their potential deaths apalls me.
As stated from the article, one reason to use the rats is because they won't set off the mines. I suppose there's potential death from predators in the area, but...

D'oh! Although the original poster said gas, not crude oil, so your objection is incorrect. It may be what you were talking about, but it was not what the original poster was talking about. Fewer refineries wouldn't increase the $40+/barrel price, but could increase the $2+/gallon price at the pump.
Could someone...enlighten us to some details of the 'vega launcher' and why its special ?
If you had ever owned a Vega, you would understand why they want to launch any remaining ones into space...
But what would you use a tv on your jeans for?
Flashers might use one when it's really cold...

One word: Vietnam.

Huh, milliamps are virtual amps, they don't have real current at all, they just appear to via other circuits.
Oh wait a moment, that's millivanilliamps. My mistake.

Shareholders care about profit, not control (except insofar as control helps profit.)
