  1. Funny Math... on The One-Use, Self-Destructing DVD Returns · · Score: 1

Walk into any Blockbuster, Best Buy, Circuit City or your local equivalent (even Tower Records here in Israel), and you can buy a plethora of great DVDs--to keep--for $5-7. Why would anyone pay $5 for a one-time use DVD? And does anyone still rent in-store anymore?

  2. I can't wait for this lawsuit! on Report of Net Art Theft Draws Lawyer Threats · · Score: 1

Have you seen how SA (and lawyer Leonard "J." Crabs) treats legal threats? It's a thing of beauty. http://www.somethingawful.com/d/legal-threats/inde x.php My personal favorite is here: http://i.somethingawful.com/images/lawsuit-10.jpg

  3. Re:Well, Google Can Sue Them on Lawsuit Against Google Dismissed · · Score: 1

Actually, I was employing a humor device known as sarcasm to highlight the absurdity of the lawsuit brought by KinderStart. As for the KinderStart results, it's quite obvious they've been penalized. The publicity they generated has earned them backlinks from many reputable sources (including /.) but they are not enjoying that link power.

  4. Well, Google Can Sue Them on Lawsuit Against Google Dismissed · · Score: 5, Interesting

No, but Google can sue them. They even have evidence:

They have been removed from KinderStart's search engine, in violation of their first amendment right to free speech!

  5. Smart Move? on Dreamworks Dumps Wallace and Gromit · · Score: 5, Insightful

The best two animated films Dreamworks put out since Toy Story and they're dropping the production company? I guess we can look forward Shark Tale 2: Out of Water, Farther Over the Hedge and Madagascar II: Kung Fu Panda (one of those is actually the real name for a planned sequel). Didn't Were Rabbit win a freakin' Oscar?

  6. Not so small on Google Winning By Losing? · · Score: 1

For an SEM, Did-it isn't small. Used to work there and glad to see we got one of our articles /.ed.

  7. Re:Still Not News on 64% of Online Gamers Are Female · · Score: 1

Exactly (no sarcasm intended). Online games like Bejeweled (um, jewels), Snood (smiley faces)and other arcade games are designed with female players in mind. Shooting, Driving and RPG games, which represent a smaller piece of the puzzle, are mostly male.

  8. Still Not News on 64% of Online Gamers Are Female · · Score: 1

Everytime one of these studies comes out, its "big news" all over again. WildTangent did a study and got the same results 5 years ago. Those of us in the online gaming industry have been using "Females First" as our mantra when we design or market online games for the past decade.
