I'm not able to read the article at the current moment, so I'm not really commenting on this particular experiment because I don't really know what physiological responses they were measuring. I don't think, in some cases, it's as easily falsified as you make it seem, though. Although it may be impossible to tie physiological responses to emotional states 100%, it is possible to do it with a reasonable degree of certainty. Just because you can fake smiling does NOT mean you can fake brain activity or heart rate changes or any of the more automatic responses to various emotions.

And...yeah, I suck. I've been floating around the POVERTY line, not PROPERTY line. Oops.

Lower class DOES have a meaning, fairly equivalent to working class, depending on which exact definition you use (there are some variations). I GUESS lower class could imply that they are 'lesser people,' but what it REALLY means is 'of lesser FINANCIAL worth than the middle class and upper class.' And the reason that MANY people (myself included, and I have spent many of my recent years floating around the property line) don't like to use working class as an equivalent is that it implies that all of those in that class work (which isn't true) and it implies that all of those in other classes (middle and upper...which I REALLY want to know what you call those because if lower is negative, upper is just as negative because it implies those other classes are lesser people in the same way) DON'T work, which isn't true.

What do you WANT him to say? He COULD say 'poor,' but technically that implies below the poverty line, which is not what he is saying. As much as you think it sounds snobby, the easiest way to say "People who make less than $XXXX/year" (I'm not sure where the lower/middle class barrier is anymore, ESPECIALLY in Australia) is "lower class."

While Newegg is great, and I do prefer online retailers in general, there are reasons why it's nice to have an actual brick & mortar store to go to. Some people enjoy actually seeing things in person before they buy them, for example. In my case, I do a lot of shopping online, but if I need something QUICKLY (that day, or on a weekend) then I go to an actual store. There are times when waiting even one day is extremely frustrating or even impossible. Brick & mortar stores hit a different market than online retailers, which is why they do need to exist. Until the day Newegg can get me some RAM in 6 hours or gives me a way to order without having to use my monitor if it dies.

For those who have had bad experiences with Circuit City and Best Buy as far as matching prices and sticking to the warranty, that's actually a bad local store manager, rather than bad company policy. According to company policy at both of those places, all of the complaints I've seen about them in the replies HERE (although I admit I haven't read ALL of them) should have been dealt with as the customer has asked for. And at most of the CC and BB stores I've been to, they would have. Occasionally you have the salesperson who just cares about getting his numbers up (one reason they don't do commission anymore) and you WILL sometimes have a store manager who doesn't understand that if you piss the customer off, they won't shop with you anymore. In those situations, go above their heads if you have to. You can sometimes get them fired for things like that, as they deserve to be.
