Oh, forgot to mention--how dare you attack my job! Not that it matters, but I happen to be just 19 years old, and this job is paying for my college tuition quite well.
What do you define as a proper job? Again, not that it matters, but I am officially the network admin's assistant, and in order to be the network admin, you must be a teacher for a number of years. So, teachers do not have proper jobs? I fail to see the significance of your claim of what a "proper" job is.
I have said nothing to offend you, but you seemingly feel the need to deface my credibility with baseless claims.
I didn't feel the need to go into too much detail, but now that you say it...
Broken computers are fixed for free by the district, or chopped up for parts, or recycled in use in any way possible. Anything unusable is warehoused until sent to resource recovery, which properly dispose the toxic chemicals, etc. To the best of my knowledge, no computer in my county (Which happens to be the #2 Apple buyer in the state of FL, only behind a county with a 1-to-1 plan) has ever been displaced anywhere else.
So "broken" is a meaningless word in a school, where it can be reused in a number of ways.
You must not have a very good idea of education funding. Not many schools can afford to "toss out" old computers. I work as a network admin at a school, and even with decent funding, we rarely get rid of anything. We recycle computers wherever possible, and still utilize the early iMacs all over the place.
The old CRT iMacs may seem as useless as a prop to you, but they hold their own pretty well. Hell, some of the schools in my district are still using the beige powermacs.
Actually, Apple first went to IDE three years before the G3s.
My network's first server (6 years ago) was a G3 tower, AKA the "smurf tower", and it has SCSI drives in it. Probably just has to do with the fact that it's a server, so Apple included the faster technology.
Just for comparison, our later Dual 400mhz G4 servers used ATA, though. Our current 8 G5's are all SATA, and we have little if any data bottlenecking.
Firefox 1.5 and Camino for OS X now support middle-clicking fine, but not the Mozilla . I use Camino, and the only gripes I have are: 1- That middle clicking a tab doesn't close it--but at least it's got the "x" on the tab instead of off to the side. 2- Middle-clicking a bookmark doesn't open it up in a new tab.
IMO, putting the close tab "x" on the side of the tab bar is illogical. FF used to have an extension called Tab X that could switch this around, but it is no longer supported.
Wow, right on the money. And I don't mean you, I'm referring to your concoction of crazy reasons as stated by "Overly Critical Guy". Like anyone would stop listen to that rediculous "plan".
I'm not trying to troll here, I'm just saying it's stupid to justify theft of anything, lest it be for one's survival. Idiot.
I have always found Apple to have some element of dry humor associated with their products/slogans/manuals, etc. My favorite is the quote on my signature.
I wonder how many people bought into Microsoft's claims that XP would be substantially more secure than previous OS. Now they are spewing the same garbage for Vista, and I highly doubt anything will change in the future.
For my real comment, is this the stardust that NASA (or somebody else) wants to give to people people to analyze because they also grabbed some debris from a recent (and by recent I mean 10 million years ago) exploding star?

So if I download a cracked program, does that make me a 1337 h4aX0rz like this genius?
I wish I had Mozilla's Brower. Have the /. editors ever heard of a spell check?
I feel pretty stupid. I forgot to make it... My sig should say: "Redmond, start your photocopiers"

No, You can't, actually.

I thought I would be first, but /. says I have to wait longer before I click submit.
Rooting for a GIMP to keep up with the two most fierce competitors combining forces? Oh, the irony!
