I think forums are and always have been primarily a place for a social community, but I think they still serve as a great place to find and discuss information, get help, and find the answers you're looking for.
On my forums people use the tech forum all the time to get help with their computers or ask advice about something.
This sounds very interesting. I've already got my bittorent client downloading the DVD version of it and I can't wait to watch it. If anyone was concerned about speeds, I'm currently showing 1258 seeds and 382 peers and I'm getting about 350k a second.
My account with Google Adsense was cancelled for this exact same reason. Oddly, it was cacelled the exact day after I earned my first $100, so I never recieved a check. Honestly, though, I wasn't too bent up over it. The site looks better without advertisements anyways.
Looks like a few people already beat me to it, but I would definately try out Edubuntu on one or two of the lower end machines and see how you like it and if it packs the software you're looking for. It's literally designed specifically for your situation. Also, to the first replier: Not every school can afford to waste a grand on XP liscensing.
