I think a mini-series, perhaps done on HBO or Showtime, would probably be the best idea anyone has expressed on here concerning how the book(s) should be portrayed.
I have personally read every Ender series book, and some of Card's other publishings.
While I don't believe every one of the books are fantastic, none of them are horrible. Horrible is a romance novel, alright? Let's try to get some things straight here.
As for a movie adaptation, I don't think it can be pulled off. I wouldn't be surprised if it came out alright (i.e. HGTtG) but, it wouldn't do the series justice. Chances are it'll simply be mauled by Hollywood execs and demographical studies, the final nail being delivered by cutting room floor. That is, if the movie they shoot is even good, which is a long shot to begin with. Even if Card writes a good screenplay, it doesn't mean a damned thing.
Everything in the first book would need to be included in the movie. It's what makes Ender so good, because of all the factors mean something to the end product. You remove something, change anything, you mess it all up. And they (movie studios) like to do that way too much because they think they know what's best for movie goers.
I want to see it done right. If I were to wish for any movie to be released, it would be this, but it's a wish I may very well regret making. We'll see.
Some of you seem to either not take this seriously, or have decided to bash it, or joke about it. What the hell are you doing for kids with terminal diseases and disorders this holiday season? Anything? I doubt it. While I don't agree that video games are the answer, it's not just video games/systems that are being donated, so stop generalizing it.
If I were a little boy dying of cancer stuck in a damned hospital bed for Christmas and someone gave me a free GBA to play with, I'd be estatic and thankful. So to hell with all you trolls, and kudos to the PA crew, because at least their intentions are good and they trying to do something for the less fortunate. Goddamned cynics.
As far as the 'hospitals having to put forth man hours to execute this event', it's not called a charity for the hell of it.
MySpace isn't a waste, but it's certainly not quality time spent either. In fact, it doesn't serve to do much beyond perpetuate social drama.
Social, community, blah blah blah. This is a community, but at least I learn things here I would otherwise never know. MySpace is a shell of a premise packed with inane BS from across the globe. It's a fad and nothing more. It's certainly not cutting edge social commentary.
However, I have heard local bands/businesses tend to promote their stuff via MySpace, and is rather effective in that manner.
For as long as/. lives, I will continue to avoid such sites as it's not nearly as productive. Besides, I like reading coherent text, not hacked-up-leet-speak-dribble.

Sorry, hit wrong reply button. Wasn't meant to follow your post up. I had no problem with your post.
So it's finally a good idea to bring a knife to a gun fight. Technology never ceases to amaze me.
