IBM TSX and MPX Late 60's Ran on an IBM 1800 mainframe and was designed as multi-tasking O/S for process control. It ran many of the various chemical plants etc. in the US and Canada for years.
He could move to Victoria - We have the airport, the space, little traffic and he would be close to the government - which has been demonstrated to be very open to suggestions that come with money. I do suggest that he look into the tax structure though. A breakup may be less expensive.
1) If DCMA is the law, then some of the posts in question do appear to violate the law. They should be removed and replaced with a note that they where removed due to apparent violation of the DCMA. References to where the original information can be found could be inserted as well.
2)DCMA is bad law - it needs to be fought politically or alternatively with your feet./. could move offshore.
3) It is interesting that MS is suggesting more openness as a settlement for the anti-trust action rather than break-up at the same time that they are sending legal threats with respect to openness. MS's letter and this entire thread needs to be sent to Janet Reno and the Attorney's General of the various states that are part of the anti-trust action. It makes it quite clear that MS has no intentions of changing its ways.
I think that this is a rather good idea. It has a problem, mainly that it is extortion, but what if we agreed to be hacked?
I agree to allow my machine(s) to be hacked on the basis that if you succeed, you will put everything back the way it was for an agreed upon fee and you will provide me the fix for the virus. After a certain period you will make the exploit and the fix public.
I believe this accomplishes your goals:
1) finding and fixing exploitable holes... 2) providing a living for those who look for them.
