You will, 80% of the time be redirected to a spam/ad site that does nothing. Nothing except give you pop-ups and spyware. Of course they are hiding their information. The only people who know it are the people writing a check to them for the ads they propagate. And even then, they probably have a shell LLC or at least a DBA. But you're the government right? You can get anybody. Just ask Arlo Guthrie.
But this means that the bank would have a right to stop you from accessing your online bankaccount and then force you to pay for a service that's not even delivered by the bank, but a third party. And secondly, how in the world is anyone going to transfer a virus or keystroke logger by logging into their bank account.
Maybe the banks should get a better web programmer and look up the definition of 'security' in a standard dictionary.
I crashed B of A last week with the Cookie Monster Virus and checking my bank account at 11:11pm. I was pissed off because they gave me an overdraft charge.
What if I don't want to pay my bank for a stupid virus service. My bank should be a BANK. What, is Norton going to help me save money in a high interest bearing account now? Businesses should stick to what they do, so they do it best, instead of trying to be "user friendly".
Honestly, I don't need a website telling me to put out media articles to get traffic to my site. Duh. "Hey! If you want traffic people have to know your website address!". Thanks for the help. What the hell do you really want?
The "world" (I use that word loosely) is realizing that it's not only the automatically appointed elitists who's opinion or viewpoint is important. It's coming down to the intelligent individual, who can give a less biased (or sometimes not) and always informative opinion and update on important subject matter to everyday persons. I'd much rather read blogs than find out who Jennifer Aniston is dating now in the latest People.
Hey, I'm German. I resent that. Or, maybe I don't.

Well due to the numerous open-sourced products, the fact that Apache is free and it being a relatively (stress on this word) easy language, means that until it's replaced it will only become more popular. So good security practices need to be stressed and gone over in detail by someone. Otherwise how can people learn about it?

Many PHP/MySQL texts don't cover the aspect of security, except for maybe a subtle reference to having HTTPS set up on your server. I have referenced many books in backend or database programming and there is very little on the subject. Maybe someone should publish a book regarding security itself. But it would still be true that this book would stand out among the existing ones, as covered by the post and my reasons above.
The whole outsourcing to cheaper labor thing gives people like me, freelance web wevelopers, less work. I have had several clients tell me they are outsourcing to India. India's got plenty of people and their own government. I'm sure they can figure out their own infrastructure. And screw you Microsoft for hiring the local Mexican standing in front of Home Depot.
How about people who are too lazy to learn about virii(sp?) or other internet threats get their computer screwed up. Then, computer technicians can be hired to come and fix it. Then those computer technicians will need to buy software in order to fix the problem. Someone has to make the software and someone has to pay them. We are all connected in the circle of life. I know that sounds maybe childish, ignorant or stupid. But there will always be people who are getting "hacked". How about just not being one of them and helping your friends out when they need it? Let the lower end of the "internet food chain" be eaten.
No but thank you for the link. I will use this while I wait for google :)
Very well put. /asskiss
Ummm...no? But I did do it for today. So I liked the quote. So blow me. Unless you work at Google, then I'll blow you.
The examples are: e.g., "pdx to 100 nw couch st, portland, oregon" or "pdx to portland, oregon at 7pm"
Is there nothing Google can't do? If anyone working at Google sees this, I am offering free personal sexual favors. Just do Los Angeles next.

"Shit. Another 100,000 credit card numbers were jacked? Naw, we don't need to let anyone know. It's the holidays for fuck's sake."
If people don't want lyrics don't look them up. If you do, you don't need software. google.com > lyrics: "enter song here" > search
A black plague that kills half of western europe would be worse. Or better, if you don't like europeans.
I think that's why they call it "testing". Instant cynisism to a cure for cancer huh?
