Although laws are a bit ackward, like if you 'disrespect' a public servant, you can go to jail, and freedom of speech isn't exactly well understood, since marching pacifically to legalize marijuana is not allowed while marching pacifically promoting fascism is...
Well, you get the picture, but at least we students aren't arrested and beat up by the cops 10% as much! \o/
p.s.: and civil war and anarchy are bad exactly why? The USA comes to mind, oh, if only that civil war hadn't happened, I might have a slave of my own today.... darn...:)
Ok, ok, then he is still PRESENTLY incarcerated for the rest of his life because in his trial he was basically told to shut up and not defend himself. Repeatedly.
And my point is far from tossing shit on the American flag, like unfortunately is the mindset of today's naive 'it's all Bush's fault' generation, but that residents better start really breathing down congressmen's necks since they obviously can't be trusted to do their job unsupervised ( doh.:-) )
I truly hope America is once again a country for the people and their individual rights, that was the great thing about it.
Shit and I don't even live there! Talk about needing some hope for the world.:-)
The letter goes on to claim that its "client is prepared to give you the opportunity to avoid legal action" provided it receives compensation of £600 plus £8.18 to cover the costs of obtaining the user's details from their ISP.
8.18 for the ISP for my personal information? I'd be insulted.
only bad news coming from America these days. I'd be worried if I were you guys. maybe throwing some stones at politicians, burning some flags and smoking pot would do the country some good. the fuckers are really doing what they want and no one raises objection.
I think we're missing an important point here. The most important thing aren't the billions of neurons, but the trillions+ of synapses that connect them. Just grafting new neurons in place of 'burnt' ones would accomplish exactly WHAT?
I thought I lived in a federal, representative constitutional republic?
Yeah yeah, glad to clear out that the US is NOT a democracy. Y'all remember to laugh when Bush goes "These people hate freedom. They hate democracy. They just know how to hate hate hate hate. And blow themselves up!".
That's probably why OpenSource development using Mono doesn't really mind writing.NET code. ( i.e. GNOME )
Probably in a few years, when machines run managed code as fast or nearly as fast as your average C++ code, the opensource community will benefit more from the.NET legacy than Microsoft ever did.
I don't like.NET, but I gotta admit that it's quite straightforward for GUI development.
In the real world, they are meaningless because of their computational intractibility.
Yes, they are intractable with today's technology.
In the real world, we use codes of ethics and/or morality
Maybe the very reason that the three laws were used was because implementing codes of ethics and/or morality in the robots' brain would be intractable problems for tomorrow's fictional technology. The 3 laws might've been an easier (and simpler) protocol.
Many times has science fiction predicted or was even used as a starting point to new technologies, maybe we shouldn't dismiss those fictional laws too easily.
BEAUTY of modern warfare???? lost ONLY 2000 men and women?????
well, I actually believed that only the corrupt rulers of aWARica were careless war-loving ppl, but I think that actually spreads across the people too.
I know I'd love to see great built-in multithreading/concurrency support in the next C++ standard. Java already does MT pretty well, right?
bottom line, people won't see massive improvements in performance with those new multicores until ppl really get the hang on developing multithreaded soft. I better read up on the subject.
Yes we are, thanks.

Bear this in mind very carefully and don't forget it:

wonder what Mark Rampion would say to that! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Point_Counter_Point

Sure would be funny to see a 100-ton antigrav spacecraft go from ground to orbit with flimsy ion engine thrust. AND cool. =)
LOL, it WOULD be funny. If it wasnt so serious. :|

The worst part is people buy it... *throws up*
Given that you can't fool all of the people all of the time
I don't know why ppl are SO SURE about the above statement. I say prove it.
This country has two parties for a reason
:)
And that is to fool you into thinking you live in a democracy.

well, I don't just believe statements like [everything is such] && [everything is such] == true

lol.. I don't find it that simple. maybe if "Hello, world!" programs were multithreaded I'd have less trouble getting the hang of it. :-|

Whoa. BIG difference, Mr. Polite Wiki-Librarian.
"A nation that is willing to trade a little liberty for a little security, will deserve neither, and lose both."
Indeed. I'm beginning to think that if Al Quaida didn't exist, the Bush administration would need to invent it.
ever stop to think that they just might have?
whether they made them up or brought them into existence, mind you.
Really think Bush is that much better?
Yeah, just use an off-the-shelf cortical interface to control the desired zoom level. That would be MODERN. :p
