My guess is that the $99 dollars is just tacked on to a service they were going to offer regardless. Sure the big studios pay a lot for development kits, but remember that they are going to be profiting off their games. In this case, not only is MS profiting from these small developers, but when they make their games available through MS Live (I think that's what it is called), MS will charge for each and every download and pocket every cent.
Not that this doesn't detract from the bragging rights or possibly valuble experience that these developers may get in return. From the MS perspective its free money.
Me too. It would be really nice if they just ported that to Linux. It was the perfect IDE for me.
Easy to use. Small and fast, with a shell to test programs.
It isn't as if the original Star Wars was a multi-million dollar production. Lucas was able to get by with a rather small budget.
And let's not forget, good writing doesn't cost millions. Good direction doesn't cost millions. Young people with the hunger and the talent to make something good aren't limited by money. Other than the original Star Wars, Rocky comes to mind. There are many more examples out there.
Dude, those VW commercials are awesome. The ones with the lab coat and riced out cars are funny, and the ones with the FAST doll totally describe my driving.
"My FAST likes to keep things light"
"My FAST drives with the windows down"
I would love to see this happen, just as long as they don't focus on only football/baseball/basketball. Formula 1, Champcar, WRC would be awesome in the theater. Especially because I can't see it on TV without paying $100+ a month (which is literally impossible for me).
Unfortunately, I bet the only auto racing they show is NASCAR.
*/me spits on NASCAR's antiquated technology and boring tracks*
