Did you actually compair GiMP to Photoshop 3.5? Have you worked in Photoshop CS? The amount of changes and updates since 3.5 is huge. GiMP has a long way to meet the demands of Professional graphic desingers, photography and printing. From profiles, to plug-ins, to pulling .raw file format off my Canon Mark II. Color profiles for high end printers. It goes on and on.

That is some good film. I was involved with testing for that for Fuji years back. Fiji, to me is the leader in film and paper. Strauss Peyton, the second oldest Studio in the country, founded in 1900 has been using Fuji for at least 20+ years. However in the last year went completely digital. No more Fuji large format, Cannon Mark II.

Microsoft being what it is, with the resources it has. Why would it not, want to and successed at creating an operating system with out these issues that allow Mac and Linux users to stick there tongue out at Microsoft for having so many Viruses and a like that we've lost count. So since you have the market share, why not truly be the best and write a system that doesn't have these issue but delivers the experience and services corporations demand from Windows. If you could do this, it would be over. Then the brand arguments wouldn't last. Anything else is futile, silly and patching or building upon something that "has issues".

Don't get caught talking, my brand is better than your brand, it is pointless. Yes! Once again it's not about brands when it really comes down to it. Time changes all things. Look at the car industry, or so many industries. I would have never bought a Ford years ago, that 2006 Explorer.. Hmmm. Everyone from the Banyan Vines days thought, "Microsoft, what kind of silly ass name is that" So basically this is just like everything else. Generally if you're doing this or that, than x is what you want. Except if your doing this other thing only then y is what you want. Only when you are able to take that step back, look at everything unbiased (I know this can be hard... maybe ease into it, start with something small) does reality set in. And thank you so much for the "old" comment! :)

Agree here. Even trying to cover this subject in "vendor neutral" manner, pointing out the pros and cons based of what the need or usage of the system would be, still be like the white guy.
