  1. I'm not convinced. on Microsoft Sees IBM as Biggest Threat · · Score: 1
You can make numbers to look almost exactly the way you want, depending on where you look, how you compare and the like. Seeing the comparison of Java / .NET with LAMP (which IMHO is ridiculous) makes it hard to be serious about the whole article. To me, this is all a mess-up of different things that don't really fit together well. What are we talking about? Building dynamic web sites? Creating small CRUD applications to hammer stuff into an SQL database using a web frontend? Building applications distributed across platforms and systems within both an internal network and "the internet" and yet being meant to interact and communicate? There are numbers and percentages written all across the article but the writes doesn't get clear about some basic assumptions. Otherwise, I'd like him to build a system to link CORBA, SOAP and possibly a bunch of other technologies using PHP, Perl, Python (even though I love the latter ones). Good luck.

  2. Google shoud also hobnob with Minimo! on Google Default Search For Opera Mobile · · Score: 1
Minimo 0.3, due in January, will include improved Web page navigation for mobile phone users. At present, phone users need to linearly tab through every link on the page to get to the right link, but the new technology will let people move between links on the Web page using the arrow keys. That's really great!

technically: "this is a DLL which gets injected to all processes loading user32.dll. It patches the Escape() function in gdi32.dll. The result of the patch is that the SETABORT escape sequence is not accepted anymore"

vulgarly: "don't trust the firewall filters, don't trust the antivirus vendors, don't wait for Microsoft. Install the patch immediately. If you are running a Windows operating system the patch doesn't support, time to shut it off and wait."

I also love Firefox very very much:

    1. Easieast to use of all browser (as it comes out of box)

    2. Well balanced features - there is much more than in Internet explorer 6. Someone might miss something, but what most people need is in there

    3. Extensions - for guys that miss something there are several hundreds of free add-ons, and often if you get used to them, you can't live without them.

    4. Visual customization - easier and more complete than in other browsers.

    5. Very fast - specially when compared to Internet explorer.

    6. Best solution for annoyances - more proof than any other browser on viruses, pop-ups, worms, etc.

If you're not using Firefox, you should be.

  6. Opera vs Minimo on Google Default Search For Opera Mobile · · Score: 1
IMO Mozilla will soon be the most powerful competitor in the world of mobile Internet browsers. I tested "Minimo" ver0.2 - the mobile version of FireFox on my HP iPAQ 3950, I just can say to the beta software is "WOW". I'll rate it 4/5 stars. Operas browser only runs on phones, not on PDAs, and a lot of browsers ignore frames or have limited JavaScript support-they do terrible jobs. With Minimo, it will render OK.

Although Opera has developed mobile browser for 6 years, I believe Minimo can repeat the miracle just like FireFox did in computer browser market.
