  1. Transmitter = Takedown on Does 802.11n Spell the 'End of Ethernet'? · · Score: 1

If ethernet is replaced with wireless, it would be trivial to knock out entire buildings with a single transmitter. I mean all I have to do is broadcast garbage over the used spectrum. Wires have uses.

  2. Re:Fraud - Already a crime? on MPAA Kills California Anti-Pretexting Bill · · Score: 1

What if you sell them. Or use them to get information that you then sell. Then you are making money. I guess what I'm saying is that if I tell someone I'm you to get your cell phone records - to sell them to a client (perhaps the national enquirer wants to know who you call.) or because a client pays me (I'm trying to track down one of your friends for a credit bureau or the RIAA.) Then money is involved.

  3. Fraud - Already a crime? on MPAA Kills California Anti-Pretexting Bill · · Score: 2, Insightful

Isn't it already a crime to pass yourself off as someone else? I thought it was fraud.

  4. Might stop patent trolling on U.S. Navy Patents the Firewall? · · Score: 2, Insightful

By patenting the firewall the Navy may stop those companies that seem to patent things solely to send you extortion notes for licensing. Typically the federal gov't can't/doesn't license them. Since they are taxpayer funded they seem to be "Ours." Actually there are a lot of patents that I wish they had. Anyone know for sure if this will essentially place the firewall patent in the public domain?

  5. Re:Why not? on Your Cell Records For Sale Online, Cheap · · Score: 1

If you are a cop; what if you are receiving information from someone inside? If you are a crime lord or smart thug - you'd buy these records. If the Police or the DA's phone records show a number that belongs to one of your boys. Might explain how they found out about that shipment last week.

I think the selling of phone records is a bad idea.
